I've noticed recently that some people look like they are offline but they aren't. If I am building or something I'll go into busy mode or go through and block every one on my friends list individually. Very time consuming.
I'm sure there's an easy way to just go into an Invisible Mode but I can't figure it out. I'd like this to show on my profile as well as in friends list.

There's a place in preferences where you can checkmark a box that leaves you visible online to friends only. I've noticed though from helping people on the builders group, that someone NOT on your friends list has the TP greyed out when you have that checked

Wow. I'm amazed there's not an easier way. With so many people doing so many things in SL you would think this would be a basic feature.

Perhaps in the original Utopian plan it was deemed that we would never want to be here without everyone knowing it.

Last evening everyone in my friends list was showing as offline, even the ones standing next to me... same for them too. IM worked but none of us could TP each other when needed, it was quite inconvenient. Hope this bug is fixed next time I login. (crossing fingers)

(crossing fingers) That's part of the reason I'd like something like this. I dont trust my friends list at all. If I want to chat with someone I go ahead and IM them regardless of what the friends list says. There are many days that if I went by my friends list I'd be a very lonely man........wait? What if everyone is blocking me? oh dear.

LOL! They wouldn't dare Do what I did.. trim your friends list down. Makes it more manageable when you go to hit everyone invisible. I leave mine invisible, until I see someone come online I wish to talk to. .....I wonder if this is why I spend so much time alone...

Can't trust the web site list any more than you can trust the in-world list. And can't trust the big map either.
The other night I was at a club and there were 14 - 15 people there. I looked at the big map and I was the only one there. No Green dots. The mini-map was full of green dots, but the big map... nada!

Even odder than being online and registering as offline, I've been offline and still been 'physically' present - and online to friends - in SL, ignoring those around me and IMs. That took some explaining.

This can happen when you've logged one AV out and an ALT in quickly. Even when you have yourself listed as online only to friends, and have turned all the little eyes in your friends list off, your friends can still tell if you are online by looking at your status in any of the groups the two of you might share.

Friends Online Status
09-24-2007 14:53
Hi,
I am searching for an anser, hopefully someone can answer this for me.
If a friend unchecks the "can see my online status checkbox " in the friends list, but I have not unchecked it for them in my friends list, am I still visible to that friend?.
Does it have anything to do with the properties checked off in the preferences. (allow only those on my friends list to see my online status checkbox)
Just wondering if these work together or not. Which one takes presidence?
thanks, SaraJean..
