Having bought a bridal gown that was amended paying 2500L was really unhappy with the dress having tried it on. The skirt on the demo was like cardboard so was offered by the designer to change. But having purchaced the final dress the top and skirt were different shades and no lighting change would fix. The train was like cardboard, positioned wrongly and stuck out. The issue was resolved (or so i thought) after a long drawn out process and the designer offered gift card which i was perfectly happy with but now find im banned from the shop so cannot use them.....any advice on this?

Have you contacted the designer to establish you have been banned intentionally?

Aww, that really sucks.

Bumps on the road to a happy wedding are bound to occur, but some people are just plain ugly when it comes to wedding service providers - like dress makers and photographers. We have our own nightmare of a rip-off artist story.

You can still use the card if you attach it and then go to your Advanced menu and select "disable camera constraints" which will allow you to move your camera into her shop and purchase.

Personally, if i had land, and she was not willing to rectify the situation (unban, etc..) i would cut a 16m2 and name it after her business with a nice little note in the description of what happened and place a 1 prim notecard giver on the plot. I would also add her business to my PICKS and put in a nice description of what she did there as well. Also, name the notecard giver after her biz and set it to sell copies and add that parcel to your picks too! :D

It will suck if other brides to be get stuck with that persons biz and go through what has happened to you.

I did contact both owners but alas no reply. Infact after I paid for the dress and received the gift cards I then purchaced 2 more dresses for bridesmaids saving the gift cards for the mens suits so in total ive spend 3700L in there store.... Good advice tho Brianna, I do in fact have a sim with Mall Bar and Club so maybe I will name and shame, perhaps if so save some other Bride some heartache and lindens!!

LMAO!!!

Mollie, if you haven't selected a wedding site, (shameless hustle/plug for business) I would love to meet with you. You are invited to visit my sim, Sacred Heart Isle 88, 187, 26. The LM is also listed in my picks. Please take the horse and carriage tour.

My advice is to let it go. You said the issue was "resolved" - does that mean you are happy with the dress now, or that the gift card is what resolved it? If the former, you have your dress - let it go and move on. If the latter, I wonder why you want another product from this designer given how unhappy you were with the design and the service.

If it were me, I'd wash my hands of it and move on.

The dress cannot be worn, it was resolved with the offer of gift cards which are now useless... I have previoulsy to the wedding dress issue bought other dresses from this store and had no problems with them so did concider myslelf a loyal customer, up until now! But to issue gift cards then put on a ban list is not my idea of good customer service.

if you can't cam in and buy and the gift card is transfer and the clothing is either transfer or giftable just get an alt and go in and spend.

Did you ask them why they gave you the gift cards but then banned you? It seems a little odd.

I would send the designer another note about the gift card issue and point out that you appreciate the cards, but can't use them because you've been banned.

But if there is no response, just shrug and go to the next store in line. There are so many fabulous wedding gowns out there!

If the store is on its own, isolated, island, you would not be able to get on the sim to cam in and make the purchases. Hmmm. Two big ifs: If the gift card is transferable AND her vendors permit buying-as-gift, then have an alt or VERY good friend go make the purchase for you.

If a merchant is already being nasty to you, naming and shaming can just perpetuate the nastiness. I'd move on, and if occasion arises to speak about the store in conversation, I'd be frank at that time.

No, it doesn't seem like good customer service, at least from the facts you've given us - which is why I would just let it go, instead of trying to buy more products from that designer that may also not look the way you want them to, leading to more attempts to get customer service that won't be good, etc. Why are you eager to work with them any further?

If you can't get an answer when asking about the ban, just don't do business with them any more. There are tons of other designers in SL who make wonderful dresses and smashing suits.

Well, moving along is good advice, and should be done eventually.

With our wedding it was our Wedding Pictures. So i was really really pissed off because this woman came to the wedding sit a week in advanced, explored the build, told me her 'plans', and then showed up the day of the wedding early and stayed into the reception. But yet, she took maybe 6-7 pictures, it took nearly 2 weeks to get them from her and she delivered them only AFTER we made the parcel which appeared in search just below her listing. And when she did give us the pics, they were like 128x128 or 256x256 - which obviously was done on purpose.

Oh, she also took our wedding invitation made by Nyna Slate, replaced the parent prim with her own, added some useless prims to it, and then displayed it in her Wedding store as her own work.

She was a class act and really deserved the name and shame treatment we gave her - we left the parcel shaming her on our sim for maybe 4 weeks or so.

Thankfully i was unsure about only having 1 photographer and had a total of 3 there - Paranoid Bride for the win!

Imagine if she had been our only photographer? We'd have literally no pictures memories of our day because the 128x128 pics are useless.

Honestly, if they're going to do a "give a gift card to shut her up, so we can ban her," then I think it'd almost be better to just trash it. No point in helping them in anyway.

That's awful.

I took pix for a couple for free: literally did not stop taking pix the entire pre-wedding, wedding and reception. Uploaded as many as I could (to a file site), that night, before I got too exhausted. Emailed them the link. Did the rest within a few days to a week. Uploaded it all online (as opposed to SL), so they could download as many pix as they liked/wanted for free, and/or point their friends there to do the same.

I never could understand the ego, or stinginess of wedding photogs, RL or SL. But intentionally bolloxing someone's big day in either is not nice! And not necessary!

If I didn't know the people already, I might've been more careful, due to perms (the type of thing you mention) but they were nice it never occured to me. I don't take pix for $L because it might not be as much fun. The fact it meant something to them meant more than $L to me.

Do what i do with bad vendors, put a bad review in your picks, and if you name the name of the vendor in the pick your bad review will show up when anyone searches their name.
I have been contacted for about a year now from people who bought a bad product and can't get satisfaction from the vendor, they found my bad review when they searched his name

And you actually believe in your right mind this so-called designer doesn't already know this? Or that this person wasn't banned after the fact? Person wasn't banned before this so why after the complaint?

This is just another of a long list of shitty things sl's shop owners do. And all for the sake of real life pennies.

Yeah, yeah I know. It was a mistake. Or their IM's were capped. Let's see..what else.

This is one reason why I'm very stingy about my Lindens over most types of products.

There are some great freebie wedding dresses, and even nice ones in the low linden range - 100-400 or so.

If I was going to spend more, I'd want to be sure I knew the designer's work more. Though it this case it sounds like you did...

I've had to contact a few sellers recently myself. All three times it resolved well.

One was a new bed that was missing a feature - turned out the seller didn't realize it was buggy so I was actually thanked for pointing it out.

Second was a failed xstreet delivery, and that got resolved easily and I'm loving the product now (and even gave it one of my rare 5 star ratings).

Third was a coffee machine that on the advertisement was listed like this:
Copy [X]
Mod [X]
Transfer [ ]

So I bought it thinking it was copy mod.
turned out it was no-copy, no-mod, transfer.

Got a refund, but the seller disagreed with my assumption that those marks meant what I thought. Still - it resolved well enough.

Been lucky enough so far I guess to not meet a seller that wouldn't work with me...

Does Ricardo have some kind of radar? He always shows up when someone complaines about a store...

Maybe if you can't use the gift cards you can ask for lindens instead or see if they have stores in other locations. I don't see why they would give you gift cards and then ban you. That sends conflicting messages.

What I believe is neither here nor there. My practice, in RL and SL both, when I have a grievance with a shop or supplier is in the first instance to contact them and establish that I'm not, in fact, the victim of some oversight or blunder. Or, at least in SL, that I'm not the victim of someone's momentary fit of pique. Whatever the reason for the cause of my disatisfaction, this at least gives them the opportunity to reconsider.

Sometimes achieves the resolution of my complaint and, when it does, saves a lot of time and bother, is all.

Sounds like they either were angry that you complained, or maybe how you complained (I'm not saying fairly so), and banned you after some pause. Or, banned you so you could not use the gift card, but they could claim they resolved the issue.

2500 Linden is a lot of money. It's really rotten. I'm not sure what you can do about it, though, to be honest. I think Briana's solution was creative ;)

Hope you can find another nice dress in SL and from someone with a better return policy. Maybe someone whose gowns you've seen on, or who has models wearing them in their store.
