hey all, i am looking for a specialy sized prim of 1024x1024x1024 (NOT 1024x1024x100) to make a giant sky semi-sphere (the final size will be 1024x1024x512), if anyone has one of these i would happily even pay some money to get it?
i have looked in all the usual places but couldn't find any

Still gonna cover 16 sims no matter where you place it, and good luck with the voids.

Okay, yes, you have build access to four contiguous sims now. I believe you.

I believe you. lolz, i guess none of u have ever been to places like midian, that use a giant skysphere, you only need ONE island on its own (wich i have) surrounded by nothing but water as far as the eye can see (but you can't access the water cus theres an invisable wall surrounding the island. now all i am after is a prim sphere of that size

Max draw distance is 512m. A 1024m sphere for sky would be, um, largely useless for your purposes, I think

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Could you dimple such a sphere? of course you can, being able to find a spot where you can both edit the sphere and see the dimple might prove difficult tho *blink* i thought LL was going to ban overly large megaprims? i wonder what would happen if you turned it physical.... -Crunch

This would undoubably cause problems Chaos. Unless you have an Open Sim anyway, whatever you do will have an impact on the grid in one way or another. The odd 20x20 poking out into the water hasn't caused any discernable problems on my sim - this is just silliness though. As has been pointed out, 512 is the max draw distance.

I'm pretty sure you really want a 512x512x512, hemisphered to 256 in one dimension (either dimpled or cut, depending on textures). But, actually... have you ever once seen one of these sky spheres that didn't look incredibly lame and amateurish? I mean, they may be okay for contrived photo shoots (but then a big flat backdrop works just as well), but for normal use, having the sky popping in and out of draw distance... well, to each their own.

Ah, a megaprims topic - I'm in luck.
A neighbour has kindly erected two 60 x 60 megaprims, one on top of each other, advertising his land for sale. These are physical, not phantom, and the two make a sign 120 m high, which I think is a bit excessive. I always thought if you were going to use megaprims in this way they had to be phantom, or did I dream that? If anyone wants to take a look, search for Flathead and TP to the yellow bit in the middle. You won't miss them inbetween the rotating for sale signs. My question - is this an allowable use of Megaprims?

Because a prim can only be part of one sim you are right that it should be phantom to any other sim and invisable from any sim not connecting with a side to the sim the prim is on. The best option won't be the use of prims but using the windlight athmosphere settings, offcourse you will need to educate every visitor in how to do it untill the sharing of windlight settings gets implemented.

From: someone Adverts should be grounded to the terrain, not floating. Adverts should extend no higher than 8m from the ground. No rotating, no flashing content and no particles.
*snip*
Q. Does this policy include signs advertising Parcels for sale? A. Yes it does.

Under the new networked ad policy it would be an offense because the max hight is set to 8 meter, has to be connected to the ground and not spinning.

The maximum draw distance you can select in Preferences, Graphics is 512m, but you can go much higher in Debug Settings. But as many people do not delve into the Debug Settings, I agree, it would be pretty useless. It is true that megaprims can overhang the limits of a sim into the void, but it is also true that you can visit those overhang areas. Rock
