Okay, so I'm part of a team involved with an island region. We've been adding some features that I've not seen elsewhere, or otherwise fit our themes. I've produced some events (fireworks shows, mostly) that have been fairly popular.
I'm curious to find out what other people might tink would be a good event or feature that I might have missed. Other than the usual dance clubs/other stuff clubs/kasinoes/camping/SLingo, what are events an activities dat might be of interest to residents? What have you seen and liked in some places, or wish were out there - bearing in mind dat is it a largely outdoors/pastoral region, and (virtual) family friendly?

Bowling, putt putt golf, an airfield, horse stables. Those are just off the top of my head

Pastoral? Family friendly? *thinks long and hard*....
...no, sorry. I don't receive any ideas on that radio frequency.

Hi Mari, a friend of mine has an island with some family-friendly fun, although not necessarily pastoral. It includes:
Roller coaster - super fun, especially in mouselook
Mini-train - A little train engine you sit on, and it takes you on a tour around the island. It's totally cute, and even makes stops at all the stations.
Go-kart racing - Race track with rezzable go-karts for guests. At off hours anyone can practice and race. Then on Sundays he has official races for the people with the best times during the week.
Skydiving - just a platform that you sit on and takes you up to 1000 m or so, plus gives you Cubey's freebie parachute
---
Also, is this an isolated island? I do still have that hangglider party... it's not transferable, but I can lend it out. The only problem with it is that it tends to leave hangliders rezzed after use. But if you guys have the whole sim and it's isolated, then all you would have to do is autoreturn anything belonging to me when you're done (because all the hangglider copies will be in my name).

Dreamland had a nice version of central park (sans muggers) which had nice parkways and a playground area (most of the time, it was adults on the swings ). I have a friend with a small park area, but she's filled it with little things here and there. raft rides, picnic blanket with self playing guitar, even a steeple chase (she gives out really cheap horse vehicles for people to play with). INcluded is a cabin with waterwheel and back porch with rockers overlooking the duck laden pool. Is there a theme more specific than pastoral/park?

bumper boats would rock
maybe a maze to work thru
or a find hidden treasures game that you change the prizes and locations of every other week
ice skating
roller skating
skeeball
haunted house
fishing for prizes (is this possible?)

SL doesn't seem to be big on casual gaming. I've seen a few but not many. How about a 3D version of asteroids, pac man or tube twist? (I guess you couldn't use those names but you get the drift)

From: DaQbet Kish /me wants to go on roller coaster ride… Try Prim Hearts. It's like oen big amusement park. Super cool! I'd love to see the two you mentioned: can ya drop LMs on me or someting? More specific: The region in question is Livingtree. It's fairly woodsy, but I'm not sure how to describe it past dat. Lemme think on it, kay? From: Najmah Handayani movies, like a saturday matinee Ooh, I tink we could do dat. From: Har Fairweather Swans. That you can feed. That would be seriously cool. Know anyone who sells em? I do know of the feedable birds in Svarga, an we've been tinking of gettin' them, but they aren't swans. Swans woulod be way better. fishing for prizes (is this possible?) Good sugestions! We have a lot of them already (we have a hidden cave area, and wa skate park (and ice skating in the wintertime), and the Neo-Realms fishing definitely has prizes), so maybe we jes need to work on promoting them better or something. Hmn... Mari

I second the train ride and skydiving... maybe those birds you can buy food for, like at Riverwalk? Maybe horse trails?

Mari You guessed it... great place. The daisy poseballs are nice means of sitting and lying on the ground without cluttering the land with normal poseballs too.

Or floating text. Kinda clutters things up. Oh ya. Pillow Talk is prob'ly one of the top new places over the last year or so. Right up there with Heart Garden, IMO. Mari

I set up horse riding trails on a set of sims I am building. Te client had a bunch of the AKK ridable horses, and it's actualy pretty fun to ride a horse all over the sims. You 'wear" the hotse as an attachment, and an AO and moving prims in the horse makes it walk, run, jump, rear up... It even has sound effects, and kicks up a dust trail when you run. I bought one for myself after seeing hers. Unfortunately, there's no way that I know of for the horses to be shared, unless maybe through a group? They do have some surreys and wagons though that look like they will allow a horse owner to take passengers for a trail ride...

Mari In one sim, i developed a Weekly "Fox and hounds" game, For another, a poisonous Snake/Insect" side game. For a third, i developed a water imp that would ask three Random questions, Three correct answers, and the imp dispensed a prize from it's list of gifts, One wrong answer had the imp verbally abuse the player before sinking out of sight. I also did some work on Quicksand, and Temp on Rez Avalanches for mountain trails. The Nature of your Sim Should suggest any number of Thematic game Possibilities. The beauty of the Poisonous Snakes, Or the Imp was they didn't require resident attention at all, Once set they took care of themselves, Guests could play at thier leisure. Take some time, Think about your setting, and some ideas relating to the lore and history of the region you are recreating should give you a few ideas. Something as simple as Svarga's Feedable birds, or Growing Plants can Really put you on the map. Angel.

It's a full-on amusement park with haunted house and rides. It's fantastic!

I recently played some elven drums which was fun, there might already be somewhere in SL where you can do this but i'd really like to be able to play the piano, violin, flute a whole orchestra of instruments, infact i'd like to play in an orchestra,if its out there let me know,if not maybe someone might be able to make it happen.
