"Thou doest protest too much"-Shakespeare "Pot..this is kettle..hello pot..come in..over" Doesn't feel good to be made light of does it "Sir Trout"? ~Lana Tomba lol - honestly, I couldn't care less. I make light of myself far more than other people do, and I admitted in my post that I'm completely guilty of derailing threads and goofing off. Trust me, there's people that dislike me WAY more than you do. I just think it's funny that, in a thread where I stayed on topic, you gave an off topic response to be snarky about off topic responses. I don't know exactly why you've decided to dislike me. I have nothing against you and I'd just as soon work out whatever this is all about in PM, but you have yours turned off, so I can't. Seriously, though, make light of me all you want. It takes the pressure off of me to do it for myself. Oh, and double check that Shakespeare quote. It's out of context and misquoted. _____________________

Morning all, As somebody who only arrived at the Forums relatively recently, I can remember that it was the light hearted friendly banter that I saw going on that pursuaded me to risk dipping my toe in the water and getting to meet all the people here. Since then I have made some great pals. I won't be around the forums during the day as much soon. But I will definitely be coming on when I can. I love this place. It is always helpful, the peeps on here are friendly and the banter - to an extent - is enjoyable. _____________________

Thanks to everyone who responded ![]() I think it would be nice to have an offical general discussion on this site but I guess it got archived for a reason! A general type fourm is very much desired, resident answers has turned pretty much into a general type discussion forum but if the strict guidelines were adhered to, a lot of the banter, a lot of the silliness and a lot of the fun would be ejected. Not to mention that discussions of land, economy, ad farms, classifieds etc. don't really sit here, but people are discussing those issues and it would be nice to have a section for that. I think Prok should be invited back into a general discussion section too, even if he's banned from most of the other discussion forums still. |

Trust me, there's people that dislike me WAY more than you do. I don't dislike you. I don't know you. I would never imagine passing a personal judgement say..like "3ring" did by calling me a fool. or you did by telling me to take the stick out. just think it's funny that, in a thread where I stayed on topic, you gave an off topic response to be snarky about off topic responses. The fact that i find it unreal that YOU of all people have something to say about wether or not we have a public discussion forum or 'if" this forum is considered a public discussion forum is quite "on topic".(considering you trapse thru the forums making them your own personal discussion forums wherever you see fit.) Quite on topic. I make light of myself far more than other people do, and I admitted in my post that I'm completely guilty of derailing threads and goofing off. The fact that you openly admit that you derail threads certainly doesn't make it aceptable. Actually it makes it worse because it reveals that you think so much of yourself that you think eventually your sociopathic behavior will become the "norm". It will not. Oh, and double check that Shakespeare quote. It's out of context and misquoted. Thankyou for checking for me on that. However the meaning of the sentence still is quite relevant considering all your laughing out loud and saying over and over that you couldn't care less is negated by mulitple posts to a simple " " (which again i assert was very "on topic"![]() If my little icon of rolling my eyes justified all that from you...well it tells me..you could care more..you just choose not to. So stop protesting so much ..you don't wear it it well. ~Lana Tomba |

IThe fact that you openly admit that you derail threads certainly doesn't make it aceptable. Actually it makes it worse because it reveals that you think so much of yourself that you think eventually your sociopathic behavior will become the "norm". It will not. Sociopathic??? A sociopath is defined somebody affected with a personality disorder marked by aggressive, violent, antisocial thought and behavior and a lack of remorse or empathy. How can you possibly equate having some fun on the forums with sociopathic behavior? A lot of us really enjoy the thread derailments and witty repartee from Trout and others. As I’ve posted before, reading the forums and having a laugh or two during the day has really helped me get through a very dark time in my life. So maybe that’s not what these forums are meant for… A laugh every now and then doesn’t hurt anyone. Skipping a few posts you don’t feel like reading can’t possibly be so important, can it? I really wish we could all just lighten up. Have some fun, help a few people, and try to live and let live. _____________________

I'm fully aware of what sociopathic means.
One mans fun is another persons character assasination. One persons fun is another person being bullied into suicide. We see this behavior regularly in our society today. If noone calls these bullies on it..then we are all to blame. according to your definiton: personality disorder marked by aggressive, violent, antisocial thought and behavior and a lack of remorse or empathy. When someone insists on derailing posts again and again and again and openly admits it and revels in the act of it..thats lack of remorse and empathy. ~Lana Tomba |

I think Prok should be invited back into a general discussion section too, even if he's banned from most of the other discussion forums still. It would have to be moderated, though. And, in deference to the fact that he cannot respond here, we probably should not discuss it further. . _____________________

Why were they banned from the forums?..errm don't worry if you choose not to answer but i thought it might shed some light on why we don't have general discussion forums. ~Lana Tomba |

I'm fully aware of what sociopathic means. One mans fun is another persons character assasination. One persons fun is another person being bullied into suicide. We see this behavior regularly in our society today. If noone calls these bullies on it..then we are all to blame. according to your definiton: Unwilling to abide by forum guidelines..harrassing women and then insulting them when they choose not to "play along" is a personality disorder. People are actually trying to be productive and helpful here. When I'm told to take a stick out..that's quite aggressive... and emotionally violent. It certainly doesnt add to my social greater good..so yes..antisocial as well. When someone insists on derailing posts again and again and again and openly admits it and revels in the act of it..thats lack of remorse and empathy. ~Lana Tomba Trout doesn't "harass women" - he got into a snit with YOU. There is a difference. Your individual beef is not reflective of a beef with all other women. And the histrionics about being emotionally violent are unnecessary. I agree that the derailments are not necessarily good for the forum but light banter to make it fun has benefited the forum and made it easier for some people to come out and ask whatever questions are on their mind. Someone who uses a common terminology for "lighten up" is not necessarily someone who is "emotionally violent." Trout is one of the most balanced and reasonable voices in here when things get heated. You can't see it right now because of your beef with him, which you keep stirring up and won't let go of. _____________________

Why were they banned from the forums?..errm don't worry if you choose not to answer but i thought it might shed some light on why we don't have general discussion forums. It's one thing to have a General Discussion forum--and such a thing might be workable with good guidelines and active moderators having vocal support from posters. It's quite another thing to host a forum that's an ongoing war of verbal griefer gangs. If anybody seriously thinks there are "cliques" or excessive acrimony in Resident Answers today, it will indeed be enlightening to have a look at how we got here. |
