Does anyone know of a forum that's good for general Second Life chit chat and random banter out there in cyberspace?

Sluniverse.com is probably the one you hear about the most. I've only popper over there a few times but you see a lot of the regulars here over there too. There's also a lot of talk about the forums over at Slexchange. I've tried to find them, but haven't ever found forums that are ever very active even though I keep hearing about them. I must be looking in the wrong place.

Unfortunately, not here, although this forum is used pretty heavily as a general discussion forum. As guilty as I am of instigating and participating, I really wish we had a little more moderation. People are doing pretty well at not flaming each other, but it gets so OT sometimes that it's tough for people to post answers, and I worry that people who come here with legitimate questions are discouraged from posting.

I've honestly never been involved in a public forum where there wasn't at least one section dedicated to OT stuff. The fact that we don't have one makes no sense to me at all, even knowing why we don't.

This section is as close as it gets here, but it really isn't designed to be completely general. It's really for people to ask general questions about SL and get answers from residents. FWIW, when people do ask questions here, they get answers. I which they wouldn't refrain from posting questions.

There IS a general discussion forum here.. it's in the archived section of the forums. Go allll the way down to the bottom and you'll find it. Only problem is it's not active. LL closed it because, well, if you read some of the threads in the archives, I think you'll get a good idea of why. The forum made baby Lindens cry, apparently.

Sluniverse and slexchange are the sites that get the traffic, I think.

The forums link at slexchange.com is at the top right , next to auctions. I see around 28 threads showing today's date in the General Discussion forum there.

There's a forum here called Resident Run Websites you might find something relevant in.

tho it has become tough, i DO see that legitimate questions DO get answered. only then do they become de-railed.

witness my thread about a divorce attorney.

btw .. in the future i may be posting a thread about a pre-nup attorney.

I'm on it. Pre-nups are my specialty. Your divorce attorney thread was solid gold.

Lana - really. Your bias is showing. I don't post new threads unless they have legitimate questions and I only derail them after they have been answered, usually several times over. You don't have to be my friend or anything, but you can't say my post in this thread was out of line without being completely unreasonable. If anything it was a much more legitimate answer to the OP's question than your snarky reply to my post was.

Agree it's heading that way

Disagree. Even as it worsens I still think the forums are more valuable than the Knowledge Base, the Solution Finder and the Wiki combined. If it happens it will be a very sad day indeed.

I agree. I am always amazed how fast and thoroughly a real question is answered when someone posts one.

Morning all,

As somebody who only arrived at the Forums relatively recently, I can remember that it was the light hearted friendly banter that I saw going on that pursuaded me to risk dipping my toe in the water and getting to meet all the people here. Since then I have made some great pals.

I think what works here is that we all know it 'shouldn't' be used for General Discussion so we all behave ourselves and seem to moderate our own input quite well.

Everytime my giddiness gets too much to contain and I post something a bit daft, I'm always conscious that I'm not really following the rules so that sort of keeps me from getting too carried away.

In the main, I think this is a great forum that seems to have a perfect balance between helpful input, useful questions and answers, and amusing people to make my working day go a bit quicker.

Huzzah!

Yay! This is far more like what the General Discussions used to be like!

/me reminisces on Broccoli hating the 50ft high porn wall and tormenting the perps with the sound of church bells. Remember that, Broccoli?
