The Quote is signifigantly Older than Star Wars, I beleive it dates Prior to the 1700's, by a well known social philosipher who's name escapes me for the moment.
When Lucas wrote Star Wars, he Borrowed from Many other Genre, and Sources both Historical, and popular (Trust me, originality is NOT one of the hallmarks of Hollywod movies).
You should take the rest of my advice though, and Read a book, If you had, your knowledge of History wouldn't halt somewhere around 1977. :p

It is amazing how insightful people were before TV, radios and the internets :)

More time to think, perhaps?

Uhhmm I don't know. I like a pair of corduroys on a crisp fall day. Now polyester, that's a different story.

Now I agree with polyester. Take off a poyester top in the dark and its like a firework display.

YOU could put a smoke generator in it and sky write over Linden Village and the Govs mansion. "Fix the Damn Grid".

Just saying.

I have some faith in LL that they are being quite liberal and trying not to ban everything offensive. They're in San Fran man.

Yeah yeah, be sure to wear a flower in your hair and all that ;)

I was just writing a classified ad for land rental, tried to put in "No Casinos", can't do that, tried "No gambling", can't do that. Had to settle for "No TOS violation trades".

Since gambling and casinos are banned anyway, wouldn't saying that in your classified be redundant? :p

Yeah, reading about history is a lot easier than actually doing anything, isn't it, Angel?

There's nothing like conceit and a false sense of higher intellect to make up for all the times people picked on you in school!

Well it should be but considering the amount of "This is how you can get around it" threads, I wanted to point out I wasn't having it on my land ;)

We have a frontrunner! Although Brenda's suggestion, combined with Colette's point that this time the scene could have a different ending is close second. My only concern is giving the biplane away to someone who is going to use it to well and truly piss off the Lindens. I don't really want to be perma-ruthed.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I relenquish the frontrunner spot to Brenda and Colette. That would be fun to watch. I have always thought that he should have been wasted. Besides the thought of being perma-ruthed is truly scary.

What's that even supposed to mean? What does doing or not doing anything have to do with discussing a topic in a ... wait for it ... *discussion* forum? Your logic is that if someone reads and makes a study of history, she must necessarily never have done anything useful? That educating oneself is wholly incompatible with positive action?

Are you really *that* dumb? Or just being obtuse?

There's nothing like completely changing the subject to personal attacks when your ignorance and obnoxious behavior lead to you being made to look, once again, like the fool you are. ;)

Nice little bit of projection you did there, too. Got beaten up a lot, didn't you? With your mouth, I'm not surprised, and with your mouth, I imagine you deserved most of it.

When you touch them they light up and you can see their skeleton - like in the cartoons. I swear, I'd buy that animation if someone makes it.
