I have a male alt that I use when I am checking out stuff I make for guys. Just lately he has been pressed into service a few times as a model...so I decided to check a few freebie places to find him a halfway decent walk so I could take him shopping for a skin. LoL.
So here I am at a well known freebie place, and I see this guy standing there. He's dressed in a snappy black suit, with a white panama hat. He stands there for a while, then IMs me. Am I new to SL? Is there anything he can help me with?
I'm honest and tell him that I am an alt and don't leave the house much but he really seems not to hear that. He then brings over a girl dressed in a barely there latex outfit and says "this is (name forgotten), you like her?" I'm like...you're a PIMP???

I tell him I'm really female, and not interested.

I can't imagine that in the micro-economy of SL, that could actually be a paying 'profession'. I don't know what 'escorts' get paid, but surely it's not much beyond, what, five or ten bucks, US? Maybe it's even less than that. Whatever it is, skimming 'off the top' in traditional pimpish fashion wouldn't yield much. So the person was probably doing it for the fun of it. Thus runs the economic analysis. |

It was during my first month in SL that I was standing on a parcel my wife had just rented in Azure Islands. An avatar literally falls out of the sky, lands right in front of me, and picks himself up off the ground with the "dusting off" animation.

In a place where anyone can look like or be pretty much anything they want to, is there ever a *real* need to pay for... um.. companionship? I do recall being asked if I'd like to work FOR a pimp a couple of times. In that one case, I set the land to damage and well, you get the idea. The other time involved me being out and about. I have a single folder for kind of thing, so I can simply drag it onto myself. It's amazing how quickly they flee from a modified storm dragon.
