Can I be banned for bumping into someone?

Some people get very irate when you land on them at a TP landing point or if you move forward before they rez, so you don't know they're in front of you. I got a mouthful, probably including a glob of saliva, from a very rude punk once because I bumped into him at a landing point.

You cannot get ar'd for bumping into someone. Heh I've been ar'd for the stupidest reasons . Example: Being ar'd for my vehicles being to loud, interrupting voice chats.

I remember when I first started SL if someone bumped into you a message appeared: "So-and-so has pushed you. Do you want to file an abuse report? " with yes and no buttons. It was kind of annoying, as everyone was bumping into each other at crowded places like telehubs.

I hope not sometimes the lag is so bad I don't even see who is running into or me know I am being run into.
Now if someone is using weapons to attack push you....or you them intentionally and without that is another matter.

This is one of the things I cannot stand about people here "The Power Trip", yes because there own lives lack so much of it...don't worry yourself about it, these idiots think they are the greatest and possess a gift no one else has

I've had many encounters like that, but the worst one was as a 4 week old, I went to a beach and it had surf boards and jet ski's, so hopped on one and raced around (yes in the water and quite away from anyone else), and i noticed two dots following me about. I stopped, anyway this guy with his girlfriend approached me and he said, "will you stop that, you scared my girlfriend", and some other stuff that made me feel quite crap for the rest of the night, lol. I was like .....errrr...ohhhhh K, lol. I was NO WHERE near them, they were on the beach. But I'm sure he was trying to impress his girlfriend (yes now I know what you were doing, lol).

Anyway it in turn scared me, as a newbie and kinda ruined my day. Since then I've had people say a lot of crap, mostly people that are on a power trip.

I mean, this guy that threatened you, his avatar was not moved, or pushed very far I presume, so how can that be considered an attack?, lol, tell him to learn to use his new mystitool HUD correctly !!!, lol.

I'd probably laugh my ass off and ask for a ride.

I'm pretty much asking for it to happen to me really.. my House is at 300m - 330m or so, my gallery is about 500-530m or so... upper range of flight heights in my opinion..

I wouldn't mind it, but I'd want to know if they could untangle their plane. My House is a mess of columns and trees!

I'm pretty sure Keira was kidding. She's not exactly the type that would get hysterically upset over something that trivial. It's not like I could actually damage anything. At any rate, I was new enough that I worried about the AR a little. Then I realized there was absolutely nothing that could come of it and went back to enjoying myself.

That's actually my range if I want to fly mostly unimpeded. In the first 100 feet you worry about ban lines. 100-300 you get skyboxes and orbiters. Above 300 it's usually pretty much clear sailing. That's good because you fly faster than stuff can rez, usually, so you don't see obstacles until it's too late. I haven't purposely hit very many things. The Hangout a couple times, a crowd of people once and a bald eagle.

I drop down low over water and when I hug the coastline, but that's pretty safe and I enjoy the view.

Untangling the plane = stand up + take object. Mission accomplished. There is absolutely no damage that can be done by crashing the plane into anything.

Whatever happened to the days when we could shoot annoying people in sl and just carry on with our "day? This is a game, for God's sake! I sympathize with the threader since I am getting very tired of being AFRAID to even open my mouth in sl without being warned or offending someone.
I feel very sorry for the person who opened this thread. Please let's get some sense of proportion to secondlife before we get into SL Political Correctness issues which will drive hundreds (if not thousands) of people away.

Off topic, but I flew for the first time this weekend. Went to Abbots aerodrome and used one of the demo dogfighters... The instructions never worked, but i managed to figure it out, and even found my way back to the airport! Of course, then I crash landed in the ocean next to the runway (still have not figured that out). Now plotting the purchase of a plane...

Flying is so much fun!

I make sure that I check on Map that I'm not going to land on someone's head(unless an avie teleports at the same instant I do, it has happened). I also click on Mini-Map so that it is up on my monitor screen before I tp somewhere. This lets me see any green dots when I can't see anyone or even buildings yet after arriving at my destination.

Back to the original post, for a moment...

I'm just glad walls and windows can't AR us for bumps and pushes.

Update: No, I was clothed when I was flying around. I recieved a violation email with a "notice of disiplinary action" stating:

'Shooting, pushing, shoving, or otherwise targeting another
Resident in a manner prevents that Resident from enjoying
their Second Life is a violation of Safe area standards.'

Discipline:
No additional action is being taken at this time.

So my below question has been answered, sort of. I guess bumping into people gives you violations and if you bump into too many people your second life will be banned.

I should think filing an AR for a single inadvertant bump would fall under "harrassment"
I would AR the bugger back.

"No action being taken at this time" means they looked at the AR and laughed, then tossed it in the wastebin. You aren't going to be banned for accidentally bumping into people. If you run around acting like an imbecile bulldozing people around, shooting at them, etc. (which you clearly were not doing) then maybe you might get a suspension, but you just aren't going to get in trouble over accidentally bumping into someone.

If you do get banned, I would expect it to last no more than a day. Three at the worst. I know some serious griefers that got the 14 day a couple times. Though, these past couple weeks, I suspect they've gone too far. They've been making a string of alts up until a few days ago and have since disappeared. (o.o)

If I never see them or their alts again... That's what I call a ban. (=_=)y

I got banned by association so nothing surprises me. I didn't even do anything.....wish I had.....and I will if I get the chance. I think she may become an astronaut someday.

I would shake my fist furiously and say "Why I oughtta......!"

I own a 17 sim private estate and ban people all the time for bumping other residents. They always say it was an accident. However many times the bumping goes on for 50 meters or more until the resident ends up in the ocean. These residents are always AFK when this 'bumping' goes on but at times they have been caught in the act. Unfortunately some people seem to find AFK residents easy targets for abuse and LL is certainly aware of it. I never report these abuses because I'm only concerned what happens on my estate but apparently LL has had enough reports of this behavior that they will ban people for it. When I have banned people for bumping and they can convince me that it was an accident I unban them but for the most part it was outright abuse and they stay banned.

Bumping into someone happens all the time. No ever reports it because no one, except this guy, is that big of a wimp.

That guy should be banned for being an idiot.
