Update: No, I was clothed when I was flying around. I recieved a violation email with a "notice of disiplinary action" stating:
'Shooting, pushing, shoving, or otherwise targeting another Resident in a manner prevents that Resident from enjoying their Second Life is a violation of Safe area standards.'
Discipline: No additional action is being taken at this time.
So my below question has been answered, sort of. I guess bumping into people gives you violations and if you bump into too many people your second life will be banned.
I was randomly flying places exploring.. I went to some area and walked through a pool two people we're in, and I bumped into them when I lagged.. they were away so I flew off.
About an hour later I got a message saying "You bumped into me.. why did you do that?"
I said "Wait, you mean I just walked and touched your avatar?"
Then he responded with some text with a timp stamp saying "Cen Dagger has bumped into you" or something of that sort.. and he said "don't try to lie, you did.. "
I said well I probably did by accident
then he said "Okay, well since you admitted it, ill send an AR report.. enjoy being banned from SL"
Can bumping into someone be harassment and be bannable?

From: Rioko Bamaisin No. What an idiot. Go back and drown him next time! LOL! I, and everyone else I'm sure, has bumped into someone one time or another. You generally just apologize and move on. You would have to bump someone intentionally, and repeatedly before getting at least a warning. Were you nude at the time?

he is probably confusing it with the bumps and pushes and thought it was some kind of griefing
don't worry about it, you will not get banned for accidentally bumping into someone
some ppl are just too quick to AR over every little thing and think it is some kind of power trip to threaten people with it

I'm afraid you've committed one of the most serious offenses in SL, and could likely be prosecuted for assault. Seriously though, don't worry about it. If something like that were true, 99% of us would be banned and re-banned from SL on a regular basis.

Cen, if sl banned everyone who bumped into people there would be no one in sl. There is always lag and TPing into new areas when you accidently bump someone. The polite thing to do is to say Sorry and keep going. I think you happened to bump someone who needs to get a life other than second life lol.

I put this entirely as the fault of the people in the pool. They should have had their ban lines up.

From: Cen Dagger Can bumping into someone be harassment and be bannable? Yes, but only if you do it repeatedly and maliciously. "Assault in Second Life means: shooting, pushing, or shoving another Resident in a Safe Area " from community standards. Even then you get a warning before suspension and the expulsion. It's spurious ARs from morons like this that clog up the system and stop real abuse from getting dealt with.

Mari if folks used it for a real ar-able situation, I have a feeling they would get dealt with a lot faster imagine how many junk stupid ar's they must have to wade through

Right, if you could be banned for accidentally bumping into people, I'd have been banned a looong time ago. I mean, I can TP into some places and wind up on people's heads. It's even worse when things, including avatars, aren't rezzed enough for me to see who I'm walking into!
Yep, someone needs to get a life.

Cen, take it from someone who probably should be banned for a good number of reasons. If I can spend the day rapid-firing bloody razorblades in sandboxes, you can accidentally bump into someone once in a while. (^_^)y *Keeps alt on standby* ... (>_>

IF the AR was even done I suspect a Linden somewhere is getting a ton of giggles from it.

You should have pee'd on him. What a moron.
I got threatened with an AR for crashing my biplane into someone's house when I was new. Sim crossing/lag, etc. It was an accident. She was hysterically upset. I still can't figure out why. I apologized, picked up my biplane and tp'ed out. People are idiots. They can't AR you for bumping into them and like Chris said, if they want nobody on their property, or they want to control who comes on, they can throw up ban lines or get a security orb or something.

There is a peeing animation out there somewhere. Last week a hedgehog avatar walked up to my alt and pee'd on his leg, quickly creating a large, yellow pool where he was standing. I was laughing too hard to orbit the bugger...

I think some people who complain about an accidental bumping or a laggy pilot crashing on their lawn are people who have heard about griefing but not actually experienced it; they have no scale on which to place the occasional mistaken bump or arrant prim. When they get bombarded by an army of newly-rezzed avs with push guns, cage guns, particle fountains, shouters, and followers, then perhaps they will realize that not every interaction with a stranger is a grief attack.

From: 2k Suisei You should all remember that the OP likes to walk around naked. He's said he's usually clothed in SL though, just not RL. Unless I misunderstood. But if he was naked at the time then.. I'd AR too! Brings to mind those basketball scenes with shirtless hairy large men's stomachs being rubbed on faces.... ewwww

I still can't figure out why. I think a lot of people are carrying baggage from real life, and I hope that given time in SL they'll relax and develop a sense of humor. That would improve their first lives a great deal. Of course, some people are just me-centric, pompous, lacking in humor, fearful, etc. and won't change, but others will grow.
