This is pretty disheartening, and sickening to me. I bought some Hippo vouchers and well, someone has abused them to the point that I lost thousands of Lindens. I have 3 people, from all the records, bought one item, one outfit, and wearing the group tag, they got 10% discount. This means, they used the vouchers, which are not copy, only trans, and bought one outfit, 100 times. Which in turn, I paid them the 10% discount, but they paid NO money to me. I dont know HOW they got multiple copies of this voucher. I have their names, AND all the transactions. They knowingly did this, obviously, since they bought the ONE outfit a hundred or more times. Is there anything I can do about this, or am I SOL? Yes, Ive now disabled all the vendors to accept the vouchers. I guess I'm a real dumba$$ for trying to be kind..sighs

I've never done it before, do I include all the transactions? And how would I do that?

On the website, in the secure area, click support tickets and explain exactly what happened. Include as much detail as possible, including the time.

I understand that the vouchers were (intended) NoCopy and Trans.

The outfit that was bought...
Was it was NoCopy and Trans?
A scam would only make sense if that were so.

An alternative theory would be a SL/Borky script glitch.
Do the times on the transactions indicate a very quickfire series of transactions or a more human-paced interval?
Andy's logs might tell him something.

You could try a polite email to one of the people asking if they might have received x copies of the product in error. Juat that. No accusations or mention of loads of L$.

.

She paid them each 10% of the price of the dress for each copy, without recieving the original purchase price.

Or at least thats how i understood the OP.

Yup. I was in the middle of editing a followup on that when I saw your post.
So a NoTrans product would do get the 10%. A Trans would get the discount and a resale product.

I totally agree! Before filing a ticket: Get in touch. Maybe they didn't mean to scam you!
And if the items was Copy/No Trans - the only thing you lost is payment for one item x 3 and you could always ask for that telling them you didn't get it....

If the items were No copy/Trans and they do not answer or answer in some kind of 'suspicious' way... Then file a ticket.

Ok... But still might not have been on purpose...

I am sorry to hear you were taken by this Yummy. I'm not that familiar with the Hippo Vouchers, but reading about them on XStreet I was wondering how this happened. Is it possible you released some vouchers but forgot to set the permissions correctly in the voucher or the script? i.e. they were able to copy them and use them over and over again?

I'm just trying to understand what happened here.

My understanding is the voucher process is separate from the group discount refund process. The voucher takes care of paying for the item and the group discount process simply registers that the person bought something and is wearing the group tag and so they get a refund of a certain amount.

Both sets of scripts are in the vendor, but act independently.
-- I am guessing on that based on various things I've heard about how these things work.

This is what I suspect but is there any way to know that something was copiable?

Well, the perms on the vouchers were no copy, trans. My vendors are set up to give you a 10% discount if you wear the group tag. So, I pay you back 10% when you purchase an item. I have the transactions from my vendors AND from the transaction history. These 3 people only bought ONE dress, Aurora. 100 times. From one vendor. And I paid them 10% discount 100 times. Now if they didnt know what they were doing, why did they only buy one dress 100 times? Must be a REAAAAAAAALLY nice dress, huh? Oh, and all my clothing is set to copy/mod, so you only need one copy of the dress.
Sure, I'd love to give them the benefit of the doubt, but that's a wee bit suspicious, and Im out alot of money.

It may take some time but LL will be able to follow all of the transaction data and see what the perms were set at. If there was something fishy going on, which I expect there was, then you should be able to get your money back.

Ick, that's dangerous. You should only give a cash refund for something bought with cash. If they pay with a voucher, give them a voucher in exchange Even with RL stores where you can't automatically buy you get refunds in like form unless you make a huge stink.

The vendors are auto set up to give the discount to members, so you can't really give them a voucher as a refund. I think I've had it with the voucher stuff. I really just wanted another way for customers to gift things, since alot of people have trouble with the gift buttons on the vendors. Does anyone know a better gift card system?

I would say "no discounts for vouchers" then.

I'm trying to follow this conversation without being familiar with the
vendors and the vouchers. They selected one item from a vendor,
they paid for it and had a voucher, so they got back 10% of what
the paid. So they only paid 90% of the price. And then they
did this 100 times, so they paid 90% * 100 times the price
for an item that was mod/copy in the first place.

That makes no sense at all, so I'm probably being dense.
So what happened, again?

(Sounds like somehow they got money back without paying?)

And is there a URL to these "Hippo vendors" so I can read
more about how they work and discount coupons?

Thanks for enlightening me!

And it goes without saying that I'm sorry you got ripped off.

It sounds like they got one voucher and figured out a way to use the one voucher 100 times.

yikes, and called a coupe friends in for the scam....this is the kind of exploitative activity that LL needs to curb. Like now!

Not familiar with the vendors either, but i am extremely sorry this happened to you =/

You asked about a simple gift system. I just wanted to suggest xstreet as there is a "Buy as Gift" button.

I've never heard of these before, but in reading about them, were they also no mod and the script inside them made no copy?

I'm not familiar with vouchers so I didn't grasp it at first either, but they bought the dresses with vouchers and not with money. Each time a dress was bought, Yummi's system gave them 10% of its value in money. The vouchers should have been no copy, so each voucher should only work once, but something went wrong and they were able to use the voucher over and over again.

------------------------------------

It was no accident - they didn't do it by accident, and no benefit of the doubt can be applied. Nobody buys 33 identical dresses by accident.

Yummi. May I ask how much you actually paid out to them - how much you lost on account of it?

I'm sorry you had this happen, Yummy! But thank you for posting this, because I was thinking of using the voucher system for my Hippo vendors. I think I'll pass on that, for now.
