Ha.
Oh yea of little faith in unregulated, uninsured fictional stock markets. :p

People expect the exchanges to do the impossible, there is no regulating body in SL for exchanges other than resident run ones that are flimsy at best, the honest exchanges do the best they can but apparently that isn't enough for some people who are unsatisfiable and blame the exchanges for things beyond their control like the lack of regulation.

i personally lack any sympathy for ppl "investing" in and then getting burned by any of these in-game pseudo-financial schemes but ...

is it only me whose head spins while reading this?

the "lack of regulation" is "beyond their control"?

wouldn't an HONEST business model (instead of "the best they can";) be some sort of self-regulation?

All WSE Account Holders will earn a bonus 25% p.a. interest during this process.

What exactly does this mean?

So people who actually leave cash with Luke earn 19.95% annualized, paid weekly I believe. How he affords this (given the decreasing trading volume and hence decreasing commissions), I do not know. So now, people are either earning 25% annualized or 45% annualized. Either way, it stinks.

Do we get melted cheese on our investments? Although I would prefer a fish with some white wine sauce....

a phase of development that requires the WSE to close all trading and transactions for up to 30 days.

Calling BS on this!

Was the new version of the system developed and tested before making this announcement?

If yes:
then no way a switch-over would take 30 days. Anything over 24h would indicate incompetence.

If no: then they don't know the first thing about project planning. Its also impossible to predict for them if the new system will take 3 days or 200 days to implement. The 30 days is totally made up.

Note that I am not making any claims about the actual trustworthiness about the entire enterprise. Others will undoutably debate that at length. Fact is that the announcement does not compute, purely mathematically.

I just know that this is because my former husband and his current girlfriend went in on Tuesday and robbed the WSE at gunpoint!

That's it... I'm opening an exchange... and following the Lindens' model.

I shall make "Babii Stocks." These shall be represented as a cubic prim .5 m per side in an attractive woodgrain finish. These are buyable at any of my locations gridwide for $1000L.

I will not buy back "stocks" but if you choose to sell your "stocks" you may sell them to any other player at a mutually agreed on price. I will set up a 4mx4m plot called a "trading area" for people to "buy" and "sell" "stocks".

Note: "stocks" have no real world value, but are transferrable rights to use the intellectual property of a sting of code which comprises a .5m cube primitive object solely in the virtual "world" of Second Life.

No fancy webpage. Just send the lindens over to me. I have a very expensive scratch pad that I keep next to me for tracking purposes.
