Yes, this certainly is the nail that will seal the coffin on SL. I wonder what it will be next month.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the blog post about being careful where you get third party $L.

just remember 1 thing

if every one shouts they are making a run for it and closing up, when it`s back, every one will make a run for their money and furfull their own prophacy(sp)

if the system needs a complete overhaul cause of * problems, maybe a hole was found that required it to be shutdown untill solved to keep everyone`s money safe

abit different i`ll agree, but take the asset server issue, lindens closed the grid for logins to minimize the damage abit while fixing the problem (hope i`m not jynxing it now..)

give him/them some time to explain what is going on befor crying wolf and endup with one

Some people never learn.

You would think they would be smart from the start and not put money into these so called financial places but no, they love being taken advantage of as we see time and time again.

Incredible but true.

I should open a bank myself.

I said almost from the start that Second Life services attempting to emulate first life financial services should be only run by people qualified to offer first life financial services, with proper first life contact information.

I had hoped that the WSE could somehow continue as in the main it is a book keeping and accountancy type service that matches willing buyers and sellers, as any other market maker would in real life. But we shall see.

I do have an account with the WSE (as well as the Anshe clone in EU) (via an SL terminal) but I have no material first or second life money in them.

Finally I accept that there is always that grey area……I had thought there was up to a 95% chance folks would loose money in Ginko but did think that maybe he may have had a 5% chance of being on to some legal exploit. At the start, I was slightly more hopeful for the WSE but still came around to the view that potential fraud and other issues could cause real problems. Of course its human nature to look for that 1,000 plus bagger and rarely it does happen folks.

Ah well, I learned my lesson with Ginko. Maybe there's still some "fund" floating around on that old pile o' Lindens, but I doubt it.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

So the "temporary" closing is actually good news...

From the announcement: WSE 4.0 includes a new ATM, improved security and functionality along with a new conditional trading system. All WSE Account Holders will earn a bonus 25% p.a. interest during this process. We ask for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience.

Well it is a LITTLE more inventive than the infamous "Cat and Rat Ranch":
