oh dear here we go...I think it's kinda reasonable to mention another persons nationality don't you I resent that implied innuendo that I am being racist, spanishist or anything elseist seems the PC brigade are taking over the world. For purely practical logistical reasons I mentioned Nationality because if you had bothered to be less bigoted in your reading you would have read that neither of us can speak the others language... and my note was as much an appeal for a diplomat..but heck we are not allowed to mention others roots any more so my friend where are you assuming I am from and what ethnic origin?...perhaps we have a little case of foot meet mouth here. BTW I did find a translator and I did sit down with the said club owner, and have a long quiet conversation, without shouting he understood my concerns and I recognized his needs and in the course of the discussions I have mad a New Spanish Friend...ooops I'm not meant to mention his roots..sorry!...shucks there I've gone and said he's a guy....grrr now the others will be down on me too....

After Reading Zero Linden's Transcript, I read it to mean MegaPrims over 512m in SIZE are an issue, not MegaPrims at over 512 meters in Altitude. I think it was said in an ambiguous way, but the size is the only one that would account for the mentioned sim communication issues. Read it again thinking size and see if it doesn't make more sense...

Annabelle - this cracked me up I tried to have a conversation with a gay person last night but he only spoke gay and the babbler wouldn't translate it to straight. I tried for hours until his bi friend came along and translated for us. Thank God for the Bi's! Now he doesn't scream all night in his strange foriegn language right next door to my house. _____________________

Can anyone please advise me if there is any protocols concerning shouting? After six months of quiet living in my mature mainland region I have acquired a new Spanish neighbor who has surprise surprise erected yet another club. Now I have nothing against a club next door to mine but these guys like to shout and I mean CAPTAL LETTER SHOUT all evening long. It fills half the sim and worse...their sploder spams my guest screens every 10 minutes. The problem when these excitable guys get going is that my guests cant even see each others conversations and because of the DJ's yelling and the Sploder are mussing up their screens. I am hemorrhaging guests and staff who understandably don't want to be blasted out of the place. I've tried to speak to the owner of the Club but he doesn't understand a word of English nor I Spanish and babbler's translations are a joke. My questions are is there protocols I can call upon, has anyone encountered similar situations, is there a multi-lingual diplomat out there I can hire to help me negotiate a quieter existence? Any sensible advice much appreciated Contact the Lindens Sploders are not supposed to upset any neighbors. It is an AR-able offense if it continues. But before fliing an AR, file a ticket and explain to LL what is going on and that you cannot communicate with your neighbors throught he usual means. If they are using an illegal sploder then it will be taken away. And the Lindens shoudl be able to talk to the club owner about having their patrons yelling all the time. |

Because he can't speak Spanish, presumably. Spacial sounds outside your own parcel is against ToS so if getting a message to him doesn't work then AR is the option. Unfortunately this is NOT an urban legend but confirmed fact. Actually, Zero Linden confirmed that megaprims at sim borders and above 512m do cause lag. Something to do with inter-sim communication. For details, please refer to the megaprim FAQ: /8/c0/208385/1.html Sorry, that's a misinterpretation. Megaprim-induced lag has nothing to do with their altitude. |

You must have a double standard or you'd also come to the aid of all English speaking people, because clearly any mention of the English language must be languagism! |

Not sure this will handle the problem but on Land options you can check a box that restricts sounds to the parcel it may be possible for a interpreter to get that across to the owner and have it taken care of .
PS, Someone needs to lose the victim attitude unless of course they use it to manipulate by guilt which is a whole nother can of worms and suggests one isn't strong or able enough to get things accomplished cooperatively. Using guilt consciously this way is weak & repulsive imo |

That and the verbage "shout", since objects are scripted to whisper, say or shout and I remember going thru a simullar situation which had been driving me crazy trying to mute a neighbors casino and a few "Lucky chairs" lol, but anyway no worries

I really don't like to snitch on people. I know how I feel about people who have snitched on me. I sat down and talked with the chap, with the help of a Spanish translator, and we sorted things out. The offending sploder was one of those freebie ones with no finesse as far as settings go and to compound the problem the notecard instructions were in english, which he couldn't interpret properly. I know this because he gave me the sploder explaining he was sick of the dammed thing or maybe my whining. As for the shouting of dj's etc were DJ's are an excitable bunch at the best of times and god bless them. some nationalities have 'excite' as part of their phyche ...hence the loud CAPS and shout shout shout . Again we reached an international understanding,he sure as hell cant understand why I want to whisper all the time Thak you everyone for contributing to this thread. I genuinely didn't know what the various protocols were and I have learn a lot over the past week laugh a lot too and had a few occassions to shake my head and just wonder where all the PC rubbish really comes from. |

OK I have read the thread..and it got my interet because I also have a sshouting DJ and Hostess at the club next to my property. They have driven away all my renters.
They do speak English, as do I . I have spoken to the cluyb owner. As for the limits, they are using some kind of super shouter, as I can hear them 100 meters away. Yes it is irritating to get it 24/7. And they have been there a while, and unfortunately for me are rather successful. Probably because of the shouting. Mute the DJ? Everyone who comes in there uses this thing. And It's particularly difficult to teach a new renter how to use the new chat muter..you have to catch it while its shouting and mute it before it dissappears. I am interested in how to make a shouting prim object. I would be particularly interested in one that would repeat the meassage they just shouted. Several times in a row. all night long Mayby that wouyld get my message accross. On the other hand, would it really helpo to file an abuse report?> Is there anything against shouting in Chat? It is a club on a clmmercial Sim after all. Byut it is soooo annoying! And I paid for my land just like they did. Why the h$&& cant they move THEIR club up 300 meters. fWhy should I have to move. In fact I will buy a shouting Prim or two that will listen and repeat what they said back to them, shouting of course. Please contact me if you know how to make one of these. |
