I saw one place where all the rental boxes were collected together in a central office, somehow marked in a way that made it clear which went with which parcel (or maybe renter?). There was also something that told renters what their prim count was, again in the central office.
No idea how this works, of course, but it is possible.

As an ex-renter I loved those set ups best of all- places with a central location to pay from, cleverly disguised as a post office, train station, or some other public type building.
