From: Rhaorth Antonelli they are only at the top if people sort new to old some sort by price, some sort by popularity, etc
they will show on top of the new items though if people use that option...
I tend to scatter my search habit... Yes however the default search bases the order theyshow up on three things : relvance, newness of the item and popularity of the item. The newer the item, if it is not popular, and its relevance wil mean that it will be seen by more people. Beyond that many people justclick the new button and search all the recently added items

X Street - Login and Uncensored Cookie
05-23-2009 22:31
As a shopaholic, I am very disappointed in the changes made by SL upon purchasing SLExchange. I have not been using XStreet as I had when it was SLExchange for two main reasons: first, XStreet does NOT keep you logged in. I dislike having to shop and then having to login every time I want to buy something. I want the ability to stay logged on - or at least have that option available and allow it to be OUR choice. Second, I want the uncensored cookie to stay valid. There has to be some setting to make the login and cookie a choice that we make and one that stays valid throughout until we decide to log out whether its an hr from now, a week from now... a month from now!
Two such simple things possible before, not possible now and makes the whole shopping experience rather disappointing.

The simple fact that I must log in every time I visit slx has nearly put a halt on my shopping in general. I still hunt out nice little shops in world, but slx is no longer even a catalog search for me, not worth the trouble.
Question: Why, if it's such a major security hole, do we get logged out of slx every browser load when we can stay logged into our account on secondlife.com for years? I would assume having access to our financial information and the lindex would be much more of a security hole then slx.

I suspect it's because you now have to log into Xstreet using your SL username and your SL password, which, of course, is the same info you use to log into the main site. I'm not sure whether Xstreet is hosted on independent servers not directly under LL's control, but that's possibly why the site is more heavy-handed with security. Also, remember, many people buy L$ through Xstreet, and have it hooked up to their preferred payment method. At least we can actually *stay* logged in for one browser session now. When they first implemented the new code, even clicking a search result listing, reloading a page, loading the next page of search results... in fact just *breathing* whilst looking at the site caused it to log you out. The thing that bugs me is, before the LL takeover, it was possible to access the Uncensored section by simply adding 'uncensored' prior to the '.xstreetsl' bit in the URL. This doesn't work now (or, at least, it didn't the last couple of times I tried it). Also, has anyone been able to buy an adult product for another user yet? I attempted it the other day, as an experiment: I tried to purchase an adult item for my (payment info on file and used) partner. The option to buy as a gift was greyed out. Hrm...

I don't like having to log in each time either. On the topic, I've noticed my Xstreet sales have dropped by maybe 30% since being purchased by LL. Considering the posts by Xmara and Feral, I'm wondering if enough other people feel this way and that is having an effect on sales.

From: Mickey Vandeverre Ghosty - do you think that people might read your Xstreet ad, then come to your inworld store to buy? That has been the case since XStreet implemented the SLurl on the sales page. I find my inworld traffic has increased, and since my XStreet sales have slowly improved as well, I've rebounded to about L350 a week or so. A couple of days ago, I took out week's featured listing on my most popular non-freebie item, just to see if it made a difference. So far, it's been marginal, and not worth the cost - but my most popular item is specific for a particular sort of function. There are parties every day in SL, but not everyone throws one every month. So I'm still in wait-and-see mode.

this makes sense with the new adult stuff coming, especially the adult purchase for someone else. There is no way to confirm that the other person is flagged for adult (or at least that is my guess) who knows though with LL I never look for adult stuff, so no idea if things changed in the way you can access them or not..

I wonder if the reduction in sales is a result of that security issue that someone was trying to let people know w hile ago but was silenced by the Ls (it is supposed to be fixed by now from the approximate ETA a Linden gave me, I dunno if it already is though, they don't talk about these things much)
