why not just say you were at the cartel hangout?

I am still confused as to why folks think it is funny, or clever to not name it and play the highschool games of "that place that shall not be named"

that is so overused now

and yes it is a pet peeve and yes each time I see it done as such I will question as to why

why will I do it... because I can
the same reason folks will play this little game of "we shall not name it"

oh well

for those still lost on what place it is, my guess is it is the Forum Cartel Hangout.

If it is not that place, then just come out and say what place it is, THEN someone can help you to know if there are events and such and how to keep up to date on them. (most places, including the cartel, have groups for announcements and such, but me thinks you knew that)
you were just bored and wanted to start another thread about the hangout :D (that would be my guess)


We don't name it so that we don't offend those who take offense. Now you are saying that not naming it is offensive as well?

yes I have been saying that it is annoying and feels like ppl are being rude and obnoxious when they do the "place that shall not be named" comments

I tried to explain before the way it makes me feel (I can only speak for me) but I guess either folks did not read it, did not understand, or simply did not care

I think I will just start turning a blind eye to a lot of things that annoy me and start making use of the ignore feature in the future

I can understand how Rha feels; I suppose the faux-coyness can sound silly or pretentious.

Just know, like I said, that's not what I was meaning to do here...

But, to move on. If mentioning the cartel wasn't what got the thread deleted, what was it?

which is why it is confusing to me, the thread (that I recall) had nothing in it to warrant deletion

Since Slack's still working on the website, most of it isn't really common knowledge yet. The Events calendar page was announced when the events thing was put up at the Hangout, though.

If it is the Place That Shall Not Be Named, yes there are events scheduled on a regular basis. Anyone is welcome to schedule an event there, just make sure the day and time are clear.

The HUD will tell who is visiting, it can be pretty useful.

Happily. It's the Forum Cartel Hangout. It is a place that was specifically put together so that people from these forums, whether they be active posters, lurkers, new, old or whatever can go, meet up, hangout and help each other or just enjoy music and hangout. it is a totally non-profit venture, completely supported by the largesse of the members here, who donated a significant amount of money and their tier to make sure that we all had a place where everyone was welcome.

I'm not ashamed of the Hangout. I worked my ass off to coordinate its creation along with a team of very talented people who dedicated their efforts to the good of the group and refused to accept any sort of compensation for it. I'm tired of kowtowing to the small clique of people who insist on being outsiders despite our best efforts to include them, so despite their inability to conceive of a difference between their own personal ventures and a group project, I'll name the place every chance I get.
