I have been trying to upload snapshots, and its telling me there is an error.. and it doesnt upload.. but takes my money anway!! GRRR.. also froze up so had to log out..now cant get back in world I get the message "despite our best efforts something has gone wrong!!"

[6:10pm Pacific] We’ve experienced multiple issues within Second Life today as the result of recurring database crashes. This has happened approximately four times today, in each case everything was restored within 30 minutes. This has resulted in intermittent login issues, regions being unreachable and other features within Second Life not working, such as Search. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and will post any updates to the Official Linden Blog as they become available. |

I also would like to see some more real-time feedback on the blog (and the http://www.secondlife.com/status page is... anything but). But the folks banging on the grid aren't the folks updating the blog - the important part (IMO) is the feedback indicating that the grid monkeys are in fact aware of the problem.  |

I wonder at times if some of the problems are caused by massive griefing attacks, but no mention of this is made by the Linden staff, because mentioning it would make the griefers happy.
That may be a stupid and irrational thing to think, but I've thought it hundreds of times; having said it now maybe I can stop having this recurrent thought. _____________________

You might be surprised The grid monkey(s) may a) not have write access to the relevant system (the 'blog'), b) have access, but not be comfortable with 'surfacing' ongoing issues at a level of abstraction that would be meaningful for most residents, or c) be just too darn busy staring at logs, traces, and other diagnostics while trying to figure out what the problem might be (and then produce a hotfix in real time).I rather suspect it's a mixture of a & b (though Frontier has hopped in and made an announcement in the meantime while I've been writing this, perhaps rendering the discussion moot ).Hopefully things will be back up and running soon... ! |
