I just saw on SLU in a thread that M was talking about the possibilities of merging the Teen Grid with the Main. So, if that happens expect these issues to be no more except possibly on Islands. I see a PG mainland on the horizon:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SL5B/MTSL

From: someone
[11:06] Blue Linden: Are you going to merge Second Life and Teen Second Life? What is going to happen to TSL in the future?
[11:06] M Linden: There is alot of conversation about this topic and I know Philip has talked to this group about it
[11:07] M Linden: There are alot of complex issues including technical issues to consider if we were to merge the two
[11:07] M Linden:and there is alot of talk about this in the lab.
[11:07] M Linden:We working on it
[11:07] M Linden: And our goal is to better incorporate teens in a much broader way in the future
[11:08] M Linden:We hear your interest and understand your passion and try to bring you things to make this a rich experience

Never was a matter of if.. just when.

SLU is cool.. peek. :)

As for the second part.. I would think M should have just shut them down today with a "we have lots of unverified people and the danger is just too high". But.. since teens are already all over SL thanks to the lack of verification maybe LL thinks it isn't a bigger risk then it is now.

Or.. maybe he was just blowing smoke up their asses and we can start wondering when he will do the same to us.

Just seems a bit odd when the OP was saying this just 2 years ago:

NIMBY's want power. But they protest and make life utter hell for those trying to build power plants to feed that desire. The NIMBY's want it both ways. They want to benefit from the energy produced, but do not want to support the source of that power. And in fact, do everything possible to kill creation of sources to feed their hunger for power.
And you can absolutely count on, that in SL, where most of the economy is generated from adult oriented businesses, that the NIMBY's want reap all of the benefits of those businesses without making any sacifices for their existance.
Btw, I happen to, in SL, to live near an adult oriented club. I don't mind what they do. I don't care what they do. They do their thing and I do mine. They are good neighbors in that they don't bother me. And I grant them the same courtesy.

Don't search for guro.

I think I went to the wrong place....

"Question: Are you aware of any way to simulate the mark of a branding iron on my Teddy Babe’s “skin”? I would like to brand my name onto my Teddy Babe’s buttocks, as one would do to cattle, so she understands she is my property and should act as such - however, I understand that using an actual branding iron on a plush woman would probably catch it on fire."

[Edit: Guro reminds me of that movie "Boxing Helena." Ewww.]

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps those freaks who engage in this stuff might be exploring it here, RATHER than in RL? Personally, I'd prefer to have this dolcett or the ageplay bit be done to a willing set of pixels, than an RL woman or child.

More over, I worry when SL caves to sex police pressure groups. As much as I find both this dolcett thing and sexual ageplay things diturbing, I find censorship to appease self appointed moralists even more so.

From: Ai Kikuchiyo
I would think so. It's among the most extreme of the extreme in Second Life.

Age Playing feeds the fantasies of child molesters and and potential child molesters. Any depiction of children engaged in sexual acts has already been explicitly banned from Second Life.

Dolcett is as bad or worse on the same score. In that it feeds the fantasies of serial killers and potential serial killers. What I'm saying is that Dolcett is on the very same plane as Age Playing.

I've been waiting on Linden Labs to finally take a stand on a variety of issues. To finally show some teeth and establish firm policies for a long time. But I'm still waiting.

And you will continue to wait until some RL policing authority gets involved in the issue. That was what it took for LL to ban the representation of child pr0n either in pictures or "live" action *in public*. You should prolly research the history on the actual events that lead up to the "ban". You will learn a lot about what is a Lost Cause in SL.

From: Ai Kikuchiyo

I'm absolutely for Linden Labs engaging in active policing of Second Life. Rather than being completely reactive, like they are now.

Thank GOD that will never happen. Thank comon sense and the legal team at LL as well :-)

And this is the latest, perfect example why I rarely come to these forums.....

Are we just looking for other things now to complain about or censor now?
Yes anyone being non-consensual hurt, violated, mutilated or killed even in consensual way is
obviously by definition immoral on whole lot of levels.
Violent images against certain groups, especially women is every where to some degree.
Is it right or wrong?
I wish it wasn't necessary personally but sometimes people are human have odd
obsessions with violence of all types.
When I was younger I created lot of violent images as way of coping with something
that was going on around me and in my head.
Why did I create certain type of stories or Artwork in first place because I don't censor things when I am creating and only after the fact I do but that is personal decision.
If this type of stuff creates serial killers and serial rapist then we need to rid all violent
and objectifying material every where.
Some people get off on very unusual things.
Dolcette not my cup of tea nor would I enjoy it as group fantasy activity but come on how many here are going to seek out thing like that when there tons of boring clubs to hang out and woot at?
Majority of the people here don't want that they want to sit at clubs and make stupid gestures.

I also find Dolcett and ageplay repulsive, but when you elimintate the 'most extreme of the extreme' as an earlier poster put it, the next to last becomes the new 'most extreme of the extreme', by definition, and then that should be eliminated, and so on, and you are on the slippery slope of censorship. Eventually you get to the point where mild flirting in public may get you stoned.

If the depiction of extreme violence, torture, and mutilation are to be prohibited, then much of the output of Hollywood would fall into that category.

However, having said that I abhor censorship as much as some of the topics being discussed here, I am in something of a quandary. If you read some of the Amnesty reports and Human Rights Watch reports on the rape, killings and mutilations in Iraq performed by US troops there, it is clear that they are staging their victims according to scenes they have seen in pornography and even mainstream films.

Whether viewing this material inspired them to commit these acts, or whether they would have performed these crimes anyway, (and it is irrelevant whether the scenes in their mind came from published sources, or from their own imagination), is something I am very uncomfortable with.

When people use SL to commit an RL crime then I'll cheer when LL hands over everything they have on the baddies to the RL police. I'll cheer even louder when the RL judge locks them up in an RL jail. Other than that people can do whatever they like as far as I'm concerned.

What about privacy ??? What about it. Privacy conventions are in place to protect the innocent. Predators don't need protecting from anyone.
