So the next question, is what defines a "male nipple" versus a "female nipple".

Is a male avatar defined by name? shape? skin? what?!

Can I put a female skin on a male shape or a male skin on a female shape?

There's that man that had implants for a bet http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_95989.html for a start. I think i'll use his body shape and a male skin maybe.

Long hair too? Avatars can wear long hair if they're male, I know, i've seen it.

What a fiasco policy statement.

Female nipple: good. Male nipple: insignificant. Like the judge said about porn, I can't define it, but I know it when I see it! ;)

Couple that with this thread and there is no hope for some staff at LL

And triple that with this ad graphic: https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1887022

which is showing up on the Dashboard without Mature content enabled. Nipples are Adult, but bare asses are PG. *rolls eyes*

Yes bare asses are PG but the word Ass on it's own is adult. I had used such a word in a listing and had it flagged.

So, having just changed the advert on my dress to be modelled by my male partner (he volunteered), it has now become a UNISEX dress and I gladly paid for the featured listing so that others can see just how ridiculous things have become.

I'm off to find a picture of an Ass, not to be confused with a donkey, so that I can list that for sale...

I had this problem recently as well- one of my listings got pulled with no notice being sent to me- I just happened to be lucky enough to go to the "view my items" link and noticed one of my listings was missing (homepage featured paid as well).

The listing was an artwork (a sculpture of a nude woman) and I had made sure to heavily pixelate the nipples/genitalia/buttocks.

Apparently heavy pixilation of female nipples isn't good enough- yes the fragile little minds of unsupervised kids on the internet can be warped into drug taking, granny beating maniacs by just seeing a blurred mess of oddly coloured pixels in the region where a woman's nipple would be...

I had to paint over the affected areas and resubmit it... oh, and I finally got the email telling me the listing had been taken down 24 hours later... go LL!

What bothers me is the implication that anything naked or nude is lewd or sexual in LL's eyes- it's either all of nothing, where’s the scope for art?

There is no scope for it but your sculpts are excellent, I hunted down your shop having seen one in a sim. :)

The standards used for "adult content" in world and the standards used for "mature content" on XStreet are different.

The Xstreet standards were developed back even before LL acquired them. In those standards, depictions of avatar genitalia and female nipples are considered "Mature".

Under LL's adult content definitions, female nipples on avatars, and even completely nude avatars, may be displayed (e.g., in a vendor picture in a skin store), as long as the avatar(s) are not depicted as engaged in sexual activity.

Crazy eh? :) Thats why we do not make a distinction at slapt.me as we are all meant to be over 18 to play here, so by that definition are all capable of not looking at that which offends us :)

Profanity not flagged as Adult Content
01-20-2010 15:12
I had a solar panel removed from xstreet last month for “Profanity not flagged as Adult Content”. What burns me is that the notice told me I was using profanity but didn't tell me what the offending profanity was. How can I fix it if I don't know what the problem is? I made a wild guess that my phrase “b*ll-sh*t solidarity with RL eco-groovy feel-good alternate-energy” was the only possible problem. I replaced “b*ll-sh*t” with “bogus”, not really a good match in English and I liked the alliteration of repeated hyphenated phrases. After this change, the item re-appeared in searches. I replied to the ticket saying I really wish they could please tell me what the adult problem was with a solar panel. I did not get an answer and now there is no record that I replied. One month later they sent the same email again with the note “Since you have not responded we are assuming the response provided is sufficient.” and closed the ticket. I'm guessing that my replies were rejected because I am not a premium member. I'm further guessing that this latest email was some sort of automatic email when closing any open tickets. My solar panel still appears in searches.

OK, I thought I'd better track down this profanity thing. I searched and searched the xstreet and SL WEB sites looking for the adult word list or profanity rules. All I could find were people complaining about their “small donkey” or “female dog” being banned for profanity. One posting stated that xstreet does not publish the adult word list. Several WEB sites are compiling lists of words that have caused items to be removed.

Is it really true that they are holding us to a profanity standard without telling us what that standard is?

They shouldn't have to tell us what profanity is, it's usually easy to spot. However in terms of adult content, they have adult keywords and they won't tell us what those words are.

I don't think they've even told each other what those words are.
