I would like to say that everyone appears to eat very well indeed and most meals sound healthy and pleasing. Is this "our" social demographic at play, I wonder?
Gonna cook leg of lamb tomorrow. :)

Answering retrospectively ....

Breakfast: toast

Lunch: forgot

Dinner: cheese on toast

Yesterday was an odd day ... thank heavens for multivitamins! :)

That's a coincidence - I'm doing lamb tomorrow too and I've got a bottle of Sancerre. I don't care if it is French or wrong with lamb - I like it.

@ Pep - You can get Roija cheaper than £4 in Tescos.

And queue for hours to pay for it too.

Pep (values his time.)

PS Nothing wrong about Sancerre with Lamb - no redcurrant jelly though.

You're sounding more and more like a wine snob now, Jig; I like peasant wines, not the stuff they fly in "experts" to change the taste of.
The wine that I drink at home most days costs me roughly US$10 a bottle and is even cheaper when I buy it by the case.

However, I also have had a couple of bottles that have cost a few hundred each -- and they were very smooth and very, very good.

This morning was coffee, followed by more coffee, followed by more coffee. After the brain finally woke a bit, I had an 'everything bagel' sandwich with cream cheese on both sides and sliced turkey in the middle -- YUMMY

Elora, try and find one of white balsamics, coming out of California and Italy. Sharper and more intense than the darker kind. Good with fish.

I'll be on the lookout for those. I wonder how that variety does with fruit? I grew some strawberries on my deck this year, lovely, small, intensely sweet ones and I love them drizzled with a bit of balsamic sometimes. Alas, their season has passed, but for next year...

Lunch was corned beef on a kaiser roll with spicy brown mustard with a side of slaw. Now I'm off to my neighbor's for a barbeque.

They delivered then too - by horse and cart - and it was a very good year for wine, so I think you are right there. I think I'd like it myself - so long as I had servants.

A bit envious of those who can use vinegar as a condiment. Not that I miss it terribly but it has its place. But since childhood more than a speck of it gets me very ill.

Okay so...

Last night - dinner.

Turkey sloppy Joe, Mashed potatoes with butter, peas, and hot buttered rolls.

today - breakfast.

Peach yogurt with sliced bananas and bing cherries added.

Now at lunch time I'm working on a plate of fries. The mention of them yesterday had me still craving them. :) And a tuna sand. is waiting. Also just cos it's the weekend, a soda with cherry syrup added. (Johnny Rockets meal if anyone knows the chain.)

Pep thanks for telling me what twiglets and rioja are.

And be forced to wait at home while the idiot drivers read their incar guidance systems upside down? And charge *me* for wasting my time?

Pep (And have them substitute White Rioja for Red Rioja? No thanks.

I cellared some lovely small vineyard wines for my friends (coz I cant drink) and I think a smaller vineyard (10,000 bottles per variety or less) has advantages. I paid about $25 to even $10 for the wines. Now, of course, I hoard my wines, so my friends just stare at bottles. Try East Coast Canada/USA wines if you can get them.
Bulk isnt always great - but agree that many countries blend wines which isnt going to help reputation.

If you can't drink how on earth do you know whether your "lovely small vineyard wines" don't taste like anti-freeze?

Pep (Is it the acme of pretentiousness claiming expertise on something that by your own admission you obviously can know nothing about?)

Oh dear - sounds like you've had some bad experiences! You can mark things as "do not substitute" I have to do that with dog food. Delivery costs are fixed to the 2 hour slot you chose - so I pick a 2 hour slot when I know I'll be home - like a Sunday morning. The only slightly anoying thing I have experienced is that the one time in over a year when there was a delay in delivery, no less than 3 people rang me up to apologise - as well as the delivery man (rang me on his mobile) and he was only 10 minutes late.

I honestly find it saves me money, because apart from the time it saves, I don't impulse buy and if anything is on offer I get shown it on the front page and don't have to go looking for it.

Actually - I was only wanting to let you know, since you like Rioja, that there was an offer on at the moment.

I appreciate your concern and suggestions, Deira, but YMMV as they say.

Pep (In Tescos yesterday; there was no offer Rioja left on shelf and pimply faced youth wasn't allowed to deal with alcohol without reference to supervisor who was out back having a fag.)

Damn this diet...Steamed chicken and veg. Yum Yum:(( Actually it was nice esp as the chicken was steamed with some of my homegrown Tarragon and was yummy I just WANTED the Yorkshire puddings the BF had on his plate and the roast potatoes and the gravy.

Then I had to put up with the BF complaining how you can't cook in my kitchen and he's going to rearrange it next week when he's off work!!!! Keep an eye out in the paper about a mad woman killing her BF for touching her pots and pans!!!

Now I have indegestion a swollen taste bud and my skybox is knackered.

By the time we headed out, I decided I didn't feel like having Thai, so we went to another place that we had not been yet. It was a mostly burgers, steaks, and chicken place, though they offered all of the burgers made from beef or bison. I've had a bison burger before and was not impressed - very very dry, tough and gamey tasting. However, one of their specials was bison ribs and the waiter swore they were delicious even though he also does not really like bison. I was in the mood for something different so decided to try them. I must say, it was the absolute best ribs I've ever eaten. The bison was cooked so tender it fell off the bones and practically melted in my mouth.
