I have a galley in a bunker under the lawn at my home, but all the pics are SL snapshots. At the moment all the pics are of me but I'm preparing an alternative show of other things in SL!

I have made SL rugs from textures I found in RL...so, yes. I do not have too much artwork up on the walls in SL...yet.:)

Maureen makes some beautiful rugs. I have several, thanks much!!

I have a friend in RL who is an artist. She works in chalks and acrylics - I have several of her pieces in my SL home. I also have an Artis-Tree - that is a treehouse with various Master works like Alma-Tadema, Waterhouse, Renoir -

Thank you I appreciate your comments Hunter and Ceka.
It does seem though from where I am standing I do it for love of doing it....
I rarely have sold any of my work here though.
Just doesn't seem many people very interested, except a few.
I buy art when I have it to spare but rarely do I have place or feel like I should use
the prims for long on displaying many things like that.
Sometimes I do though.
One type of art I don't like is when you see it and you know obviously that person didn't reproduce it by hand, and photo sourced a public domain work and is selling it for lindens.
I know it's public domain and they have right to do so...
but it bugs me.
In past when I was beginning to drawn I have done reproductions of Master artist like Cezanne's fruit bowl but you can tell if you know art its not the a copy of the photo if you look closely at it enough.

Someone asked about a couple scenes on the many frames I have in my home if they were rl spots... and I told them no all the pictures are sl screenshots of my old home before i had to trim it down to the one small lot and a place i liked... and lots of the many ladies I know (none of the guys sent me picks to hang up so :P ).

And it got me to wonder how many have real life art and photos up in their second life homes

I figure it's just "stolen" in most cases, so I don't own any, even though I ain't got an "SL crib" right now. (baby OR hiphop).

If I didn't feel like that, then guess who would have been selling art weekly all this time?? u got it. To me it's like buyin' a CopyBot copy of a bike or some jeans. I ain't exactly a "Saint", but I guess it's just because I know so many artists. I wouldn't want anybody stealin my grrl's art & reselling it in SL for example. Hell, there's folks in world who pretty much just "throw up on canvas" and call it art, no need to steal, they make good L$.

...just my 2 cent.

I have a mix of art in my SL home. Some by a SL artist done as original art for SL, and some by the same artist that are digital images of his RL art. I confess, I also made some prints of Klimt works I like and hung them in my SL home. Probably some copyright violation there.. But I'm not taking it down.

The SL art, I purchased at a huge museum/gallery whose name escapes me just now. I love many of the works there, and am fascinated by the original SL artworks.

I have some original art in my RL home, too and have sometimes thought of making digital images of the paintings for my SL home, but felt if I couldn't get permission from the artists, it probably would not be a good idea.

I am actually building a room in my home for Native American art ..There is this one artist who's work i love and am buying up everything i can find of hers. They are water colors so they are digitally reproduced. They really are beautiful pieces of work.
Being Native American myself i was happy to find an artist with a new approach to Native American art.I love when something just grabs you and you know you just have to have it.

Yeah, some of the SL Art I have seen made from screenshots is crazy...I have seen so many pieces that look like they belong on the cover of a Novel, or as a movie poster. The craziest thing about the SL Art community is how much they support each other, and buy each others' work.

My grrl sells her art in RL at galleries and shows, but she also has a Gallery in SL, where she has digital portraits & other original art...the SL Art is just a hobby, but she gets a lotta RL networking, and some direct RL sales every month out of it, it's cool. They ALL do for the most part.

I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, so I don't know too much about that Maplethorpe Exhibit, but if it's original photography, then hell yeah it counts. Just like if somebody "Copy-Botted" ( lol ) your pus-oozin' crap & resold it over & over again. :D

I hang my own digital art ... guests have complimented me on it, and some I've given away as gifts.
