I've been looking for a nice tropical cozy spot to move to, not mainland. How did you find yours? Here? SLX? In-world in Land Sales? Classifieds?

I searched around the in-world land sales for my initial parcel..found one I liked for what I wanted at the time (A club) and then bought it a day later.

My first expansion was because a neighbour couldn't keep their land, so I got another 1k or 2km or soething like that for about 70 L$.

Then I just expanded on my land, till I had the 10km I have now

I bought some land (mainland) a few months ago....a very small plot but I just wanted somewhere to put my store...that was my own...etc. I found it by going through the classifieds..and TP'ing all over the place ... The house I rent, I also found by going through the SL classifieds... You may have to dig through an awful lot of rubbish, but if you keep at it, you'll find that 'gem' that you've been looking for....

Good luck with your search....

I bought from a person who sells a lot of land. She showed me several different parcels and I got something just perfect for me. Before I met her I was looking here, SL Exchange and teleporting for days without finding something suitable.

With estate land I did a lot of research on the web, just using google, reading blogs and stuff. I had heard too many horror stories of people getting screwed over buying (renting) on estates so I wanted to do a little background check. I found a great estate company whom has around 50 sims and was very reputable with a professional website and payment system. My main has been with this same estate company for over a year now and its been great. If you're interested in looking them up send me a PM here or IM in world.

I bought mine a long time ago. Pretty easy actually since I was a new premium member and elligible for "first land"...........yeah the now defunct program where a premium member could purchase a 512 plot of mainland for 512 lindens. :) I searched land sales and narrowed the search to "first land" and found dozens of plots to choose from. TP'd around to several and found the one I wanted. I still have that plot too............it has been where I learned to build (about 15 houses have occuppied that little lot in Phillidora) :). Right now it has a small rotating sign for a little business I do and a very low prim house high above it where I make my clothes, change my clothes and generally play with stuff.

I TPed into a lot of crap false ads for island sims. LMAO at someone wanting 799.00 US for some land.. and finally found a beautiful place Tiki, all I have ever dreamed of..even more than the lots I sold before I bought here.

As far as my commercial land.. same as above.. only I laughed at the 900.00 US price. (1/4 sim)

I have a nice tropical cozy spot for sale, its listed for $27,900 but I will take an offer, comes with a well built fully furnished home, which you can keep or tuck away in your inventory, 933 prims, 4080 sq m. The tier is very reasonable at L$1418 per week. I have lived there a year and have not had one problem with anything, its very quiet and relaxing. Check it out yourself and IM me online

I found both my places just flying around looking for waterfront land with $ signs on them. Loved the first one like mad, and really like my new one too. Just dumb luck on both of them.

I have mainland, but I found it by using the big map and looking for yellow plots of the size and shape I desired. It was far less frustrating than using search.

I lucked out in that there happened to be a 512 next to it, so I bought that too. No added tier for the 512.

I forgot to notice it is in a PG sim when I bought it, but so far that hasn't been an issue.

I found land next to the place I hang out the most and moved in there.. Saves on gas and I can stumble home without having to worry about driving after a long night of too many beverages.

I have always found nice land the old fashioned way by using search, avoiding estate land sales(rentals) and going to the places that looked nice on the mainland. You can always find somthing nice on the mainland if you look around a little.

I just kept searching the map for the "yellow". Found a spot I liked, bought it.

Classifieds helped with the 2nd piece.

I got lucky--my first and biggest friends in SL were buying a sim shortly after I joined. I got in on the ground floor and I've been there for about 16 months. :D

I had spent quite a lot of time teleporting to parcels listed and just hadn't found the right spot. My RL cousin was also looking for me and we'd go check them out. We both used the method of flying around sims to see what was for sale. He was the one that spotted a sim that was up for sale where it hadn't been a few days earlier. I bought my first parcel there and within two days I went nuts and bought two 512's next to my first land purchase, lol.

I've stayed and outlasted casinos, sex clubs, condos, overpriced rentals and more. Most of my neighbors have been great and we've kept an eye on each others property. I'm happy where I am.

Just make sure any parcel you're considering buying has exactly what you want. Don't buy if you have any doubts. There are always new lots going up for sale, so take your time. And ask your in-world friends to let you know about anything they might see.

On the mainland, I used to patrol new sims I liked the look of that were being auctioned, then bought somewhere once it had been parcelled up (assuming it was parcelled sensibly). I got a really nice waterfront place which was home for quite a few months that way.

I got fed up with Mainland, so decided to rent from an estate owner - so I used in-world search. I wanted somewhere large so was able to filter out a lot, and I was only prepared to rent, having heard horror stories about people "buying" private land.

I ended up on Atashi's Waikiti estate. Great place, fair price, excellent estate owner. No connection other than being a happy tenant!

So to answer your question - by knowing what I wanted before I went shopping, doing a lot of shopping around once I knew, and then letting 'gut feeling' do the rest.

Surty..

I found land I liked two different ways, at first it was all in world land search with a ton of hopping around (actually I am pretty good at finding a bargain) I just limited my searches to mainland and the size I wanted, then sorted by price and worked my way up. (If I didn't find anything the first time I usually found it several hours or just one or two days later).

My Last lot I found on the auctions (Usually not a good place to find them because the prices get very inflated) But this one was triangular with a road along the long side so it did not attract a lot of attention because nobody had adjoining land in the Sim so I waited until the last minute and submitted a bid.

I used the inworld search function and checked the map and TP'd around. Took a lot of time and I bought and sold quite a few parcels before I settled at Crameri. Keep searching and you will eventually find what you want.

Well.....the island I'm on now...which is very nice and has some open plots available (Saraluv) I initially found because I had a met a guy who had a shop at Zero Mall....which was owned by the same guy that owned the island.....so after I saw the shop I wandered the island and then I asked my friend about the owners....if they were cool and so on......and ultimately I bought my parcels of land.

Later the sim got sold....but the new owners are a really sweet bunch of women who bent over backwards to make sure all the orginal residents were happy. They moved the sim to a cluster of sims they already owned.....and viola....I now have 3 parcels on the island and I love it. I've always found places by word of mouth or just accidentally by exploring. Thus far...never had a problem.

You might want to check out Saraluv....there's a building in the back corner with a listing of all the sims and plots available... it's a great cluster of tropical islands owned by cool people. ;)

I will vouch for Fantasyland Estates. Incredibly professional and friendly. I was ordering an open space sim through them as the Land Store went south. Without any idea of how long is was going to take (and it being put off once) I had to go purchase a 1/4 SIM -- the owner not only gave me several options but kindly refunded my 40000L investment after i explained the situation. Oh and I might add -- he has incredibly fair pricing.
