I just logged in, a bit slower than normal, and now I'm in it's noticeably less laggy than a couple of hours ago. TP is fine, inventory is fine, everything's working well.

What I don't understand about SL is how there's no consistency, at any given moment some of us are having huge problems while for others its smooth as silk.

This is interesting:

Scroll down to see how the logins and concurrency suddenly spiked. Will be interesting to hear the explaination.

I'm pretty sure the system wasn't seeing us log *out* as we normally do.

So there was no way for the concurrency to come down.

Has to be a glitch in the counter surely, that suggests it went from somewhere below 30,000 to well over 80,000 in a few minutes. Think what it's like on update days when the grid comes back up. There's a log-jam of people trying to get on and it usually takes the best part of 20-30 minutes to get up to normal levels.

That jump in concurrency is roughly equivalent to the most that have ever been on at once, I find it hard to bel;eive the login servers could have logged so many on so fast even if there were that number of people/bots trying to get in.

Maybe or maynot, that's ur esitmate. :) i personally think someone was testing his new tools, which have been sending lots of concurrent valid requests to sl grid. :)

Good theory, but what would have caused so many to log off at once and logjam the logins? That part needs explaining. Also the fact that the email system broke at the same time and is *still* down. (at least in all my sims)

Ugh two of the three items I bought did not get delivered. I sent a note to the seller explaining about the grid being down. I really hope they will send me the stuff I paid for.:(

Actually the numbers have been in the 80 thousands but have come back down into the seventies. So at least some logouts are definitely registering. It really is interesting.

Experienced login issues, TP troubles, and chat lag today. All common issues when there are tons of people logged in. *shrugs*

Oh yeah, IMs were going straight into my email, and friends reported that their friends lists weren't working. Again, very common overpopulation issues we used to see when 40K was the breaking point.

Or is there some commercial activity going on that we don't know, like someone on a PI setting up a conference for their RL employees.

Just a thought

Unlikely there would be 40-50,000 at that conference, which is how many extra people are on according to the stats.

I was just using the example of update days to suggest that there is no way for that many people to log on so fast even if they tried.

Just over 76,000 when I logged on a few minutes ago. Login was same as normal, inventory OK, map OK. Haven't checked IM or email yet.

For the number of concurrent users to spike like that it would have to be something simultaneous.... such as a DOS attack. Then again LL could be testing something for all we know.

78.000 when I just logged.... and the only real problem I have (until now) is TPing.

Teleport is working fine for me. Just hopped from Burning Life to the Northern Continent to an Island estate.

Gotta admit that the numbers seem crazy. But unless LL goes bust the number of concurrent users will eventually reach and surpass the 100k level.

according to the HP we are up to 79179 uwers online again .... which is about 3000 up from when i logged in approx. 20 minutes ago.

Everythin works just fine at the moment and even though i am now on a sim with 50 people on it, i expererience less lag compared to the last days and the same location with even less people on it.

Maybe LL wants to make itself more attractive to potentional business partners and just boosts the numbers a tiny little bit ;)
