Bitches, both of 'em. Don't listen to a word they say.

No alts. Don't need one. I'm enough. Ditto! _____________________

Yep, I have two alts. One is for privacy and to test permissions on what I create and one is for group creation, inventory back up and being non human.

I have so many alts that the alts now have their own alts.

I also use my alts to:
- get away from IM's and stuff from the different busy groups I am in - when I want to talk to one person privately without interruption - for security purposes and to check permissions so things work - announcement groups that are not important enough to be clogging up my main, who already has 25 groups - see what certain areas in SL look like from the "other side" - interact with people in settings where appearing as a woman would be an impediment - found a group that has RL political enemies and so should not be traceable back to my main, who has not hidden her RL identity completely I don't use my alts to: - cheat on my BF - spy, except for security which I am responsible for - cheat at roleplaying - I don't take my alts anywhere my main roleplays Most of my very closest friends know who my alts are. |

About 1/3 of the 9 million registered members are alts, according to Ll statistics. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pxbDc4B2FH96QnlAI9boFUw&gid=5 coco I'm presuming that based on avs that share the same email address. What about those that don't? |

Alts are good to sperate your SL lives, one alt has few friends and all the inventory for building stuff, but he's escaped now and competing with my main
![]() Another alt was for playing combat games so armed with everygun under the sun. One is the working alt, another for when I want to be RL me online, another for dubious activities ![]() They all back up each others inventory and some share friends, swap clothes & items, only the Landmarks & animations folders are common to all of them. _____________________

I have an alt for things like holding my money (safer than putting it in an SL bank =) and for funding a money-tree (though I don't have one atm).
Also I use the alt for testing things that I can't do myself, such as double checking permissions, testing things like security systems and the like. _____________________

For me exactly the same. No alts, it would drive me nuts I think, considering my busy schedule in sl. Furthermore, I have created my av like myself in rl. I don't think I could relate to an alt that simply isn't me. Although I realize that having an alt could be interesting for checking perms etcetera for the items I sell. But I check them usually with friends, so they get freebies all the time lol. Thats so how I feel. I tried the alt thing yesterday and it was a bit weird, I my alt and drowned her. _____________________

I have two alts, but alas I had to bury one of them.
I still miss her, it was fun to take her to dance clubs and dance with the guys with them not knowing I was a man. It was so interesting to see how men flirt with women from the other side. But there a bit of nasty business and so I laid her to rest in A SL funeral home and she remains there today. ![]() My other alt is used, as so many are, as a refuge from all of my friends, sometimes I just want to wander the wide beautiful world of SL alone and explore by myself. I have a split personality, yes..... The 'one side of me' has a job, a house, lengthy friends list, lots of groups sending me notices and a special someone that I enjoy spending time with. Seems every so often my other 'side of me' wants to be left alone so he has no friends list, no group emails, no house, no job, no girlfriend etc.. he just walks around checking stuff out, talking to strangers only if they start the conversation and enjoys hopping on lucky chairs.

Sheesh! only a day or two back I said this in another thread LOL
By accident of not knowing what I was letting her in for I clicked female when I created my avie. A very short time lapsed before I changed to true gender. Bilbo is me, pretty real with real and SL friends, including fiancee - 75 miles away so SL is a huge comms tool for us too. Decided to investigate this gender phenomenon further so created my female alt. Learned a lot. Fiancee knows about her. Even been shopping together LOL Well, she developed her own circle of friends. She doesn't cheat, doesn't lie and if gender becomes a problem, she walks away. She has one East Coast US friend who *might* be also an alt. Don't know, don't care. We have quality time together and great fun. That for me is what SL is for. Oh and being premium too she and Bilbo in group saves tier on the 1024 home. She doesn't get out much these days. Yeah, I don't either!! LOL Wanted to start another, minimum inventory, one look, just for a quiet wander into the darker places Didn't get the email confirmation of creation so took a ticket out. Waited.Got impatient and created another. This one worked. Guess what? Ticket was acted on so got one very low mileage nooborn. Offers? _____________________

![]() 09-28-2007 08:45
ive got one...and with my partner we formed a group to own land, so we get 3x512 + the 10%, which we never used) tier free...
she never gets out really, but the stipend building on her is a nice savings account heheheand we used her for forming groups when you had to have three... but thats the reason...none other.. ![]() _____________________

I have one alt and made her mostly to form a group for land ownership purposes. She's premium too, but that might change soon. But between the stipends, her membership is basically paid by that so I'm still debating on whether or not to keep her premium. I'm not using her 512 free tier at the moment, but it is donated to the group in case I need it. I'm addicted to prims, it seems, so I may need that someday. Also, I love my main the most....she's the most like me in personality, but it was fun to shape, skin and dress someone totally new.

I've an alt. I use her to help test security systems, item permissions and since she's rather statuesque *giggles* help test my builds as I'm petite. Named her after my WoW paladin

I confess. I'm an alt.
When I started SL, I used a name that I've used elsewhere on the internet for over 10 years. I figured, well, I'll be myself in SL so why not? As a scripter, I'd wanted an alt to do testing, especially permissions. Wasn't permitted when I tried, so I ended up tossing a few $L to newbies or getting friends & customers to help out (but taking far, far longer). I also have a female form for making & photographing jewelry. Not long ago, I found out they changed the rules and I could get an alt, and thus Lear Cale was born. In addition to being useful for testing, Lear Cale can do things and post forum entries that I'd rather not share with all the RL folks who know my original network name (including my parents, siblings, friends, and co-workers). I can let my kinkier side out while maintaining a sense of privacy. I share my alt's escapades with my partner; it's not for sneaking around on her. However, the life of an alt is a big hassle. Can't see my profile notes on people I've met, and never have stuff I need in my inventory. And that's not trying to be "someone else", which frankly I wouldn't have the talent for anyway. Like Jezabell says, it's confusing enough being ONE person! |
