So, I got home tonight after 3 extra hours in unexpected traffic. Spoiling for a fight. And there in my inbox was a wonderful missive from LL about the new content restrictions, enacted after (in spite of) "six months of research and gathering feedback".
They asked for my reaction ... "and if you have any questions or comments after reading please let us know."
So I clicked in the little box they provided for feedback let them know exactly how I felt. And lo and behold a few minutes later I get back the official LL response:
"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification
Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:
noreply@lindenlab.com"
Oh yeah, the mandatory question: Why did I expect anything different?
Pfft.

I agree Smith, i guess months and months of being told that AO has an inworld meaning wasn't enough for those brilliant lindens. I guess changing it to AC (Adult content) was asking a tad too much. (and yes, i finally got the email)

~Brie I am still scratching my head about what AO was supposed to mean. It doesn't say anything about that in the email but it does reference adult content.

Yes, Ian answered in the post right below you, but in 5 minutes, I'm going to forget. I am a Neko after all, and there's mice to chase... Also, how many linden do I have to poseball-slap with to get on this email list anyway? I never get the fun stuff.

Couldbe, you're not alone. the Lindens forgot me too.
If, by some miracle, they will find me after all, I will tell them not to worry, I am using my own AO already.

Oh? They want feedback and comments again?
It would be easier if they read their own forums and blogs about the theme...

It would be easier if they read their own forums and blogs about the theme... Actually it makes no difference. They'll ignore both these forums as well as the feedback, anyways.

I thought Animation Override when I saw that as well. When I opened the email, I groaned realizing it was old news being regurgitated.

Yeah, in the past few months, only about thousand people told Lindens that AO is an established term for Animation overriders and shouldn't be used for adult content. There's even a Jira ticket for it. So why not use it in mail subject? *rolls eyes*

still no email. but considering in theory they could be sending out somewhere between 2 million and 16 million emails I can see them staggering it to make sure they don't get listed for spamming I couldn't log in for a few hours there and since the rest of my web stuff was working I did wonder if they'd been banned here because of the spamming.. but obviously not. for those of you who missed blondins little get together last night, here's the salient (read laughable) bits. [11:03] Blondin Linden: It didn't go on Friday. THe copy was approved late so it was decided to wait until Monday incase we see a spike incase we see a spike in support questions [[11:04] xxx: did the email get sent? [11:04] Blondin Linden: its ready now and just waiting for the final greenlight which I dont expect to be an issue so for once they didn't do the releasing something contentious at 4pm on a friday and leave support to cope during the weekend. From what I gather this love letter from LL doesn't actually mention that you need 1.23 or the equivalent to get to the smut. I can't wait to see it, as it sounds like another fail for us and a delightful pr win for them. Tell people how responsible LL is without actually giving people any useful information.. meh

You can view the email online: It's basically just a collection of KB and blog links.

I'm officially calling this a fail. I don't think anybody is gonna realize from the title that this email pertains to them. Except maybe the exotic dancers.

I like how it references a wiki page I started as official documentation. "Just call me... Argent Linden..."

I do believe if I was the owner of the Cat in that Misunderstaning picture I would be going to bed wearing a cup for a good long time. The look on that felines face does not bode well.

From: Argent Stonecutter I like how it references a wiki page I started as official documentation. "Just call me... Argent Linden..." Or Argent Fic The Wiki is one of the few positives to come out of this fiasco. As for Six months of research and gathering feedback, it was more like six months of doing what they said they'd do in the first place and largely ignoring feedback. They sure do have a strange definition of feedback in the lab.
