Creator name changes?

A while back ago a alt of mine uploaded the first some what successful attempt at making textured wearable hair.
I got copy of course.
Very few people have ever gotten a copy of it.
Today I was looking at item and I noticed the creators name has changed to someone I don't even know even the permissions have changed.
Has anyone else experienced something like this before?

This usually happens when a copy is put out for sale as 'original' only, the person buys it, but doesn't take it.

Are you looking at the item or the hair specifically or are you looking at the texture?

The only way I know of changing an item's CREATOR is by adding 1 additional prim (or replacing a prim) then linking so that the new prim is the Primary prim.. that avatar's name will become the creator for the entire linked set.

If it's the actual texture... the someone could Save that texture to their computer... then re-upload it to SL... making themselves the Creator of the newly uploaded texture. Each time something is uploaded to SL, even if it's an exact same texture... the new texture receives a new UUID.

I made the item some how permissions and creator of item has changed.
I got no clue how that happen.
It wasn't prim related it was textured hair attachment made with my own textures that took hours to make to use in appearance sliders.
If they re-uploaded a texture or bought a item I don't get how that would effect what I have in my inventory as far as creator.
If that is what happen sl has changed me and my alt uuid number and made someone else a creator that is totally screwed up.
Oh well I am so I don't make things any commerically any more.
I don't know how business would survive when LL is allowing others to take creator rights so easily away.

In fact I am quite depressed it took me months to figure out how how to make that hair before I uploaded, spent days and hours on the fricking no hair up my butt cornrows to only have some freaking person I never met become the creator.
I am so pissed at the moment about it I feel like why even bother continuing doing anything here.

This sounds like an awful malfunction that should be reported right away. I'd find it soul destroying to make something and then see someone else suddenly given credit.

I wouldn't even know how it should say Carry Pack made it but says Ameshin last name exclude is creator.
I literally spend hours upon hours making items.
Very few of my items ever are sold, even fewer even notice them.
The item was created and he didn't make whole lot.
I don't even sell many things, yet spend hours on things and rarely get even a good
job for it. I can deal with stuff like that but this was sort of final blow.
I have maybe sold one of this and it was to a friend.
I don't have much but what little I have LL literally sucks dry.
I am not happy camper at the moment.

How about if you add one prim to it (creator FD or Carry Pack) Then link the rest to the new FD prim. (Make the FD/Carry Pack prim the main one.) Then would you be the creator again?

are you sure you didn't make the item beginning with someone elses?
What i mean is.. once.. a friend of mine gave me a shape she made... i fully modified the shape, changed everything around, but because i used my friends 'base' it always said her as the creator.

To make a non-prim shape/skin/hair item say you as the creator, you must use the "right-click" .. "new body parts > new hair" function (in your inventory).

It sounds to me like you used some full perm 'base' someone else made... at first, but fully modified and retextured it... but, since you failed to do the "new body parts> new hair" thing in your inventory it says someone else as the creator.

A lot of times this happens with things turning up with "newbie_template Linden" as the creator.. because the skin/shape/hair/eye creator didn't realise the process for making these non-prim items label themself as the creator (and instead used the linden full perm 'base' to make these items..)

i spent hours painting this texture in real life.
i drove my boyfriend nuts going on about he saw me make it.
no one other then alt that i made item with should have the name in creator field especially not in my inventory.
it wasn't prim, it was pure textures put in by hand by me via a alt and done in appearance slider with my texture. i did use prim at one point but it was one i created and didnt work that well so i deleted it.

the appearance slider can NOT edit a 'pure texture' you \had\ to put the texture on something (non-prim hair... skin.... or eyes.. or some non-prim clothing layer)

There is a "base" (a non prim base) to \all\ of those things.

Making the texture from scratch in a 'real life program' does nothing to 'set' the creator of non-prim hair.. non-prim eyes or skin or non-prim clothing layers.

To set yourself a as a creator for skin/non-prim hair or non-prim eyes.. you need to open your Inventory.. right-click on a directory/folder and select "New body part" (or "new clothes"... then you must select which 'new' thing you are making..

Then.. you wear it.. go into appearance mode.. and apply the "real life made texture".

If you did not do this process you used someone elses 'non-prim base'. Either the "newbie_template Linden" base.. or the base of some other creator.

i suspect you did this. Which is a problem a lot of people make.

I did do this but it still wouldn't explain why things changed on texture.
Nor in display box when box is Carry's.
I don't own any hair textures by the creator. I don't shop much.
I don't know the creator.
Carry has never had item made by the person either.
I have done this long enough to know what I am doing.
There is lot I don't know how to do but in this one area I do know what I did.
Trust me. It was glitch in major way but very very annoying one.

Hmm.. if on the uploaded texture itself the creator changed.. that's very odd..

I will have to check Carry's name but the the hair item the owner changed.
And I swear I created new hair item, I down own anything in that account by the creator that shows up there.

FD, i am assuming you are using a LL hair base. but..... were you possibly wearing a base that someone else created, and modded it, and didn't realize it?

if so, no biggie.

put on Linden hair from library. start over. it should work then in the name of that creator.

if you make your hair mod, and someone else puts it on, changes it with textures and saves it, it will still have YOUR name on it, even though it is THEIR textures.

that's what i tried to say, but apparently less concisely!

I got no clue how the persons name got there I know I created the texture, uploaded it, create new hair via sliders and everything appeared normal at the time.
Perhaps I am just going insane and totally screwed up but trust me that is the steps I did I don't own anything from the creator that is now showing on item especially with that alt account.
She does prim hair, shoes and accessories, no where have I seen her in her website my no up the butt hair cornrows I guess it really doesn't matter either way but it bothers me.
She does cutesy things like cats and the standard boots you see everywhere and women's hair styles in blue,etc.

Actually the creator you mentioned (or at least a creator with the unique first name of Ameshin) makes most of her hair with a \non\ prim base.. she does a mixture of both prim hair and hair that uses the 'non prim' hair base... like your 'no butt' hair.

well her hair styles are different than yours, i just mean she does use and make "non-prim" hair.

the part i am talking about is the sliders.

when you were moving the sliders, you were using an alraedy craeted base. anytime you save something from sliders that LL craeted, it then shows YOU as the creator. if you modify the sliders that someoen else saved in their name, it will save... but in their name still.

i have a feeling that's all it was.

so, have your alt open his account, and right click to view the properties. i bet it shows that other name.

to make it in YOUR name, use a base from the library of shapes. when you mod and save it, it will then show YOU as the creator.

easy peasy. lots n lots of people have made this error FD. i still goof and od it from time to time.

I didn't look at everything she does but name does look familiar but I don't own or Carry doesn't own a item from her that I can remember...
I know she was born after my first guy in 2004.
I don't get many other people's items nor do I shop much.
Carry even less he doesn't have money usually.
Anyway I don't know what the problem was or is, my stuff normally isn't out in public for long or rarely in stores for long before I get discouraged just give up nor do I often give away or sell items that much...
There is maybe dozen people in world that any creation I make at any time since I joined.
But seeing this happen when I know I didn't use any one else's template or what not in the appearance slider has left me feeling more discouraged the usual.
The hair personally had it's issues but it was closest to successful attempt I had with hair but its not like its item many would wear.
I think I need long nap.

Update for you. This has happened to someone else too who was creating a slider based item.

And the same name, Ameshin Yossarian, what are the odds? Something is weird here, I am thinking maybe she has a shape in the Library.

Used to be I couldn't post here under my alts, lol.

In case anyone's curious, it could in fact be a viewer bug, filling in the wrong creator (creator is one of the fields you can update along with name, description, perms, etc)

No I wasn't wearing anyone else's nor that person skins, I don't own anything in that account
except Linden and items I have uploaded or made.
Wonder how many people this has happen to by the same person.
