From: someone Aditi Offline
[7:50pm PDT] Aditi, our beta grid, is currently offline as a security precaution. We will post an update here when it is re-opened. http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2009/08/08/post717/

I have no idea what's going on. I just saw a twitter post of the status announcement in my friendfeed stream and thought I'd pass it on. What sort of security risk might exist on the beta grid? Accessing your real balance? Scripts readable when they shouldn't be?

Apparently there was a break in from the Teen Grid.

This might be a good place to ask a question ... Do you need a premium account to access the beta grid? I tried to go there a couple of days ago to restore some inventory but it wouldn't let me in. But it was during the rolling restart ... worth another try?

My normally stable private estate is now unstable (even after a manual reset). I fear something grid-wide is malfunctioning.

If your account was started in June 2009, you might not be on Aditi yet. I think the last copy was taken in May 2009 and if your account didn't exist then, you will not be able to logon to beta. Next time the beta grid is refreshed, your account will be there.

No, a premium account is not needed, but the Beta Grid appears to be only refreshed roughly once a year. Any avatars created after the refresh date won't be able to access it until the next refresh. That's because the Aditi grid is a snapshot of the Agni grid at the moment it is refreshed. That's why anyone who can currently access Aditi will lose anything they have created/uploaded over there at the next refresh, but they will also have a more up-to-date snapshot of their inventory. This year's refresh was carried out on May 28th, and a quick search shows your rez date is June, so I'm afraid you won't be able to access Aditi until the next time it's refreshed.

From: Gummo Zaks As just as a refresher how do we access beta again? At the login screen Control Shift G should make a grid selector appear. For the main grid, pick Agni, for the beta grid, pick Aditi.

From: Dawnee Swansong Not a lot of point then .... after an update my missing inventory items will be long gone. I don't understand. The inventory you have acccess to on the beta grid, is merely a reflection of what you have on the main grid. Anything you change on that grid means absolutely nothing to the main grid. The only way you can "restore" any missing inventory items by visiting the beta grid is if it is something you can save to your hard drive and then upload again on the main grid. If you can do that then it should already be on your hard drive in the first place, shouldn't it?

/327/ef/334229/1.html#post2524033...but it's not happening anymore, evidently, so don't bother going to the beta grid and buying that $L20K boat you've been hankering for ...

Oh, that. Sometimes people will log into Aditi in hopes of fooling the local inventory cache when they get back onto Agni. Does it really accomplish anything? Maybe not, but it's a popular folk remedy nonetheless.

No inventory items I have created or obtained in Aditi have ever shown up in Agni. I have had fairly recent clothing purchases be available in Aditi. In fact I have had outfit changes in Agni be accurately reflected in Aditi.

From the other thread, it sounds like the trick was to login to the beta grid, leave something tasty on land that has autoreturn on it then login and go back to the main grid to find a nice present in your Lost & Found folder.. I guess I can buy that that was possible..

Seeint he inventory refresh was in May 09, anyone know what happens if you try to log into the beta grid with a newer alt? I remember when they first added all the other grids, I got onto a Linden Grid called Ganja and imy char looked like a noob and was missing probably 80% of inventory bcause the copy must have been way back.
