Let's be forthright: does the fact that most sims are mature by default mean that in Second Life in general, the rights of those who wish to roleplay sexual situations take precedence over the rights of those who wish to be free from such roleplay?
I think the preponderance of mature sims is just LL responding to market pressure, not any statement from them as to precedence of activities on the grid. The general policy in SL is that if you wish to be "free" from activities that neighbors engage in, you have 3 recourses:
1. Live on covenanted land that is free from that activity. In your case, this would include buying on PG sims.

2. Buy enough land that you can isolate yourself from neighbor activities.

3. Convince LL that the activity you wish to be free from is bad and should be eliminated ... e.g. gambling, ad farming.

While somebody who moves in next to a space I've occupied for a time and decides to put up a strip club around my parcel "does not have to" alter his roleplay because of me, it seems that I'm very clearly expected to alter my roleplay because of him.
I don't see that anyone's expecting you to alter your roleplay; is anyone demanding that you no longer engage in child activities? The fact that your immediate surroundings have become such that you YOURSELF find your roleplay impossible is different from anyone ELSE expecting you to change.

My apologies, Miss Sideways. Somehow, your neutral name and scampish manner have just always made you a little boy in my mind. (*slaps self for not Paying Attention...again*)

I'd send you a dolly for Christmas, by way of apology, but you'd probably just pull its arms off or blow it up in a science experiment. :D

I noticed that too! Immy, honey, you need to edit your hair and move that prim back away from your eye. *hands you a comb*

I'm also of the opinion that if someone using a child avi buys land in a mature mainland sim, then he assumes the risk of finding his house suddenly next to property used in a fashion inappropriate for children. I wouldn't think that, in the case you propose, you would need to move, but I think it would be prudent to use screens. They needn't be "huge, ugly, stupid screens." On my property, I have some screen-sized, flat trees; they are very natural-looking, and while they don't entirely block the view (because one can see between the branches), they sufficiently obscure it.

I originally bought the flat panel trees, by the way, for my old property, when the mall next door decided to attempt to increase traffic by opening a sex club on the land sharing my property line.
