From: Faithless Babii yes...i used to roll my eyes and look the other way when *i* heard these kind of stories...because well.its easier isnt it\? Id have to believe the unthinkable...if i didnt ignore it..and that is..there are loopholes...yesterday i MYSELF..(and im no newb) got stung...my lindens went POOF...it wasnt someone else..it was ME. Of course...noone wants to think it REALLY happened..but it did..and i doubt ill get apenny linden back...but hey that FINE..until it does happen to you, you can look smug and say *oh thats impossible, they lied, its a scam*...ignorance is bliss ...i wish i was still ignorant...id have some spending money for xmas lol Id better keep quiet about it...or ill be accused of whinging...one day after the event seems to be the limit of sympathy . You accepted an object, clicked Yes on grant debit permissions, and it took all your Lindens, right? That is a known issue - you have to click the YES thought when you rez/attach the item.

From: Eveline Nixdorf A friend tells me today that someone she knows had her entire account wiped, by receipt of some kind of malicious object. Is this possible? Her listing is gone from search, all inventory and linden money gone... as usual, there's no telling what's "true", but it sounds pretty nasty. No word yet on what the object was that did this. There is no inworld script that can do this ... you would have to steal an avatar's password. Also, if the account was deleted, how does this person know the inventory and money was taken first? Did the thing print out status messages: "Now I am taking your money" "Now I am taking your inventory" "Now I am deleting your account"??? lol. It seems much more likely that the Lindens deleted this person's account, either by accident or for some reason that this person doesn't understand. Either way, they are the only people who can straighten out what happened, and I would be on the phone to them immediately.

From: Jezebella Desmoulins Worse yet, I heard from the friend of a friend of a casual acquaintance twice remove that there's a malicious object out there that will steal all your L$, delete your account, e-mail profanities to your grandmother, reformat your hard drive, let the air of your car's tires, turn your lawn brown, give you acne, and make your hair fall out in RL. So be careful when accepting debit permission! Yep that happened to a friend of a friend of mine too! [/SARCASM]

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Why a duck? Well, I don't know why-a no chicken. I'm a stranger here myself. And Suezanne, your other comment could be right on the mark: If the object got PERMISSION_DEBIT, then tried to drain the L$s in big chunks, it should trigger Risk API, which would make the account disappear until the matter was resolved. (/me remembers poor ol' CartelTrustAccount Mumfuzz.) And if the account disappears, someone might well assume that the Inventory and L$ balance is gone, too. If only we could compel the Friend-of-a-Friend to reveal the end of the story.
