ah well . . . I do not particularly like guilds . .. nor do I shop at Wal-Mart . . guess I'll go naked then . ..

Run naked! Drink beer! Like the ol' man said when he kissed the cow "Everyone to their own taste, pass the pie."

While I'm here... I had a falling out with SLX some time back and don't like to do biz with them anyway, but I do look up stuff there and then use search in world to find the creator so they don't have to pay the kickback to SLX.

That's true. In my opinion, most SL items are already ridiculously underpriced. I've created content for both 3D applications like Poser and for the SL market; the amount of work is the same. But while content for Poser sells for $10 - $30, most SL designers sell their works for less than $2 (L$540). If anything, the market could use higher prices.

Poser content has a much higher value than SL content, to be honest. It's raw material for other things down the line. If I spend $20 on something for Poser, I then use it in renders - which I will then publish, and in some cases earn money myself.

Buy a dress in SL, you wear it for a day or two, think "that looks nice", and then it goes back to the bottom of the inv.

One thing right after another as of late with SL.... 10L! LMAO I don't think so... If she floods the market with this crap people will jsut stop making things. Its just not worth the time and effort at that price range. Shes not trying to help anything but herself. SL is going to get to the point that unless your in here just to hang out its not worth it. Alot of items are way under priced now in SL. This would just bottom things out completely.

Is Poser content DRM-restricted like SL content? If it's not, that fact alone justifies the higher price.

SL content may be "cheap" on the whole, but you also don't get a whole lot out of it since it can't be backed up, can be used only once (or can't passed on to a new account), and has very limited (mod still doesn't come close to getting a copy of the textures along with an item) ways of reuse/modification (or none whatsoever in the no-mod case).

At one point or another most of the current content will become obsolete so it's limited in time as well (the avie mesh desperately needs work, but would likely mean that every piece of clothing and skin becomes worthless unless you choose to look outdated).

One person shouldn't be able to wield this much power. Maybe they can't and the venture will fail but if other businesses shut up shop and leave I don't see how that's good for SL as their bread and butter income comes from tier fees and land sales. You're going to have to shift a lot of L$10 items to keep paying your fees.

I think the bulk of the thread has crossed the line into Private Discussion, I have reconsidered my previous decision and will be closing this thread.
