You know when you meet other residents in a matter, you can engage in an amazing conversation with them. Sure, if you can attract your friends as well, then you can enjoy living your dream. Just because you think something is dumb. I didn't receive a payment information yet cause of non-acceptance. Fun is a factor and expanding the creativity can help as well. Second Life is different than many other MMO's, but it's so different, that it's expandable and amazing in artwork and architecture.

Dear Jay,

Why did you come to the forums?

--- For marketing research only

--- To research upcoming trends for some reason other than 'academic' (word has more than one meaning)

--- To gather data for a research paper

--- To gather data for a class you are teaching or will teach

--- To kill time because PS3 broke down

What are your credentials?

---- I teach at a major university

--- I teach at a city college

--- I teach online

--- I teach at a university offering degrees on the back of matchbooks

--- Other (please specify)

How can a random and vague question on a user forum be considered scientific?

--- It can

--- It can't

--- Science?

Answer mine and I will answer yours.

I came to SL for fun, I stayed for the money. I do love the creative aspects and I love my SL friends as much as if I had met them in person. But I spend 12 hours a day in SL to make money. If I did not have a business in SL I'd spend an hour or 2 a day on it - enough to spend time with my friends and explore a few places.

I came to be apart of a new type of community developing right before our eyes. If our overlords took the community aspect seriously SL could be The Standard in online community design or just another internet disappointment.

I came here to escape from the overly intense sun and constant gray loading textures I experience so often in real life.

This is not a real survey because there is no pie.

I came for fun because I get a kick out of the whole schtick. Building and texturing are strengths I had to begin with; animation and scripting are interests I want to develop and I'm not averse to behaving as adult content either. I guess I spread myself a little too thin but that's how SL affects me.

I have even acquired a taste for pie.

I also plan to run a small business because it makes sense to turn enough lindens to pay tier and upload fees. I'm painfully slow to start because doing it well requires time, patience and responsibilities that are just a little too close to RL for my taste.

I will get there eventually but it will be a big experiment that could easily sour the whole experience for me.

I came at first for the fun and still have fun in SL but even in my first days here I saw potential as far as making money here to spend on all the wonderful things SL had/has. So both :)

I find the scary bright thing in the big blue room rather disturbing myself... needs a dimmer, and the plumbing and HVAC needs some serious work. when the light goes out i can see the holes where the water is leaking in from. the organic carpeting is interesting, but really messy =X

(damnit Argent, you beat me to my first answer =)

The night light is great in open sims though, when the scene gamma and star brightness are bumped up. It looks kind of unremarkable in the busier RP sims.
