Edit: I wish you could edit surveys... I didn't express the first option quite right. It was meant to indicate that if you weren't paid you wouldn't do the survey.

ok good so this told me how to vote :) I won't do them if I'm not paid.

(I won't do them if they offer to pay either)

I do not like green eggs and ham.

:)

So, another survey person was run out of town by people who are probably sick and tired of surveys? What is wrong about that? It has gotten to the point where I just bypass the surveys. I don't care if they pay Lindens. I'm sick of seeing yet another freakin' survey here by people that don't know anything about SL and have no context with which to evaluate the data. One of them cries and closes the survey? Boo freakin' hoo. Go inworld and get the context, and get the data. The people who post here are not necessarily representative of SL at large and that skews the data anyway and immediately diminishes the value of the results.

This survey is not about any particular survey, it really is about how people react to different kinds of surveys. Really. And there's already surprising results. Surprising to me, anyway.

Now THAT is the most valid statement made today, unfortunately.

Also, the survey was comprised just by stating it was a survey
I assume you mean "compromised"?

How exactly do you figure that stating that a survey is a survey compromises it? In fact, I believe it's normally accepted that hiding the fact that you're taking a survey is unethical.

In any case, what I find most interesting from MY survey is that there are more people who believe they should be paid for taking a survey than are willing to provide information needed for the survey operator to pay them. :D

What kind of surveys do you prefer?

Apologies, Argent, but you failed to include a "none of the above" option because it gives me the shits that folk think SL is some kind of sociological mine when we don't even have an anthropologically sound mesh.

And what is it with you and pies anyway? Being an occasional ferret, do you drool over some kind of savoury option?

And can I be the first on this forum to say that Firefox is going to pot?

I didn't even have room for pie! But, as I suggested to the last person to point this out, you can leave all the options blank.

As Ridley Walker says, we can all do with "A littel salt, a littel savor".

That's a great story. Long time since I saw mention of it.

My ideal survey would be (in no particular order)-

- on a subject which interests me
- well thought out and well written
- not trying to sell me anything
- not asking for any personal info
- by somebody who's been in SL longer than 5 minutes
- unbiased

If the survey is for a study connected to a RL university or other research organisation then I also want RL info on who is conducting it and what the purpose of the study is.

I don't want paying particularly.

It wouldn't let me submit with all the options blank (which is not the same as not submitting at all: it would have reduced the percentages for every category).

I wanted to submit a blank one because my (almost) sole criterion for answering a survey here is that it not look like yet another attempt to dig dirt on SL. (And that's why I never even opened the notorious Rosser thread until the kerfuffle here.)
