This is a private poll, nobody but Linden Labs will know how you answered!
What kind of surveys do you prefer? Select all that apply.
Edit: I wish you could edit surveys... I didn't express the first option quite right. It was meant to indicate that if you weren't paid you wouldn't do the survey.

Where's the option stating that I am not willing to take a survey from someone with a post total of 1? Bunni has been contributing to the forums and I was glad to help her out. Hell, i liked her survey.

From: Konu Magic Where's the option stating that I am not willing to take a survey from someone with a post total of 1? That will be in the survey on followup survey followups to surveys.

From: Argent Stonecutter It was meant to indicate that if you weren't paid you wouldn't do the survey. That's precisely what I took it to mean.

From: Bunni Menizah Thanks Konu! I still feel very guilty about it though. Don't I'll take a survey for you anytime. Hell, I'll take the same one 100 times if it will help you out. Don't worry though, i'll change the answers for each time I take it. Keeps it scientific that way

Intelligently thought through and well written by someone who has some experience of Second Life is a requirement for me to take a survey. I only found one such, by PARC. It asked questions about avatar and identity that I had never thought about and so I learned something about myself.

Hell, i liked her survey. I have already posted on Rosser's thread and the tirade about his survey and my feelings on this issue. Selecting one survey over another because a person is "contributing to the forums" is illogical and simply rude. Following last night's "performance" concerning Rosser's thread, I can only say how deeply sorry I am to the man (who has now left sl). His survey was actually genuine. It has been shut down. Basically, it was compromised by the flaming he received. For my part in this whole sorry business (since I was the first poster to Rosser), I apologize to the Lindens who will no doubt be reading this.

I see it as less that valid, since he close the page without saying anything. If he was completely valid, then he would have changed his page to Closed, or Completed - not just deleted it. Also, the survey was comprised just by stating it was a survey - that tends to skew the entire results. He would have been better served to just ask one question at a time in a normal fashion, and brought together his results from that. That makes it look more like it was not a valid topic, and the University pulled the plug on it. Bottom line - there are dozens of survey 'companies' inside Second Life, where the majority of the users reside. If they are looking for a proper selection of views, that is where it should be done.

The poor man was truly naive to much of what goes on here. The survey was closed when the university was in session in the afternoon. I tried to persuade him to rethink or reorganize himself but he had spent the previous night arguing for the validity of his thread here in forums. He visited me in my Chaska house and I spoke with him. I had some friends over and he met them and we had a "Good Morning Midnight interlude" with an artist from Australia and a Businessman from Chicago and a couple of people from UK. The survey was quite valid. The plug was pulled because of the thread. Really, I just dont know what to type. I am very sad about this. Very sad indeed.

Kokoro ~ Agreed about the inworld surveys as the way to go. I participate with one that is with a reputable firm and offers intelligently designed surveys, and I am happy to share my opinions and experiences. I really don't care how much they know about my RL, what is important is the intention and design of the research. Truly puzzling are SL people who go to the defense of research that is under the guise of science but ill designed and poorly thought out. I don't give a flip if a person has a PhD, as there are too many who publish or perish and need give little thought to design. I am willing to go head to toe [or is that toe to toe?] with any researcher when it comes to psych experiments. For one, I was mostly likely doing research before they were born, and two, my analytical abilities [and IQ], are statistically significantly higher than theirs. So there! Nuf said. Bah humbug. Going for pie.

He set himself up for fail from the outset. He claimed he was giving SLers a chance to disprove SL's alleged sleazy reputation to the outside world, one that is overhyped if you ask me. I think most people in the real world could give a about SL, and we need to stop the self important hand wringing over "What do they think of us?" Most people don't think about us at all. In any event, the title of this thread set his survey on a course of doom, he used the same tabloid buzzword methology as the yellow journalism that we are supposed to be so angst ridden over. That shows to me he really doesn't know much about his topic of choice, as most of these "researchers" do. Let them go inworld , spend some time there and ask their questions.

From: Jig Chippewa Hello Pep. My theory is the Pep has hinted and suggested that he has alts everywhere, just to try to get people guessing. It amuses him. Where he has created *forum* alts, he's made sure we all know.
