RL Banks Taking Over...

Anybody here get the feeling that pretty soon an RL bank is gonna announce entry into SL in the media? Does anyone else suspect LL sold out the avatar banks in order to get Chase or Bank of America or Citicorp more invested in SL?

I have a feeling the only RL banks that will enter SL will be peddling Credit Cards for RL use.

wouldn`t suprise me, how ever, banning "banks" is still a good move, even if it was just to attract real banks wich would have never offerd such returns to compete with the "banks"

Why would they? Few Real Life business that have come here and stayed. I assume the reason is they aren't making much money.
Why do we even banks or stock markets here? There no real security in them. You basically are "gifting" somebody's Avatar. Maybe it wrapped in fancy bow and box but you're just giving basically some stranger to hold on to your funds, hoping they will return it with interest.

So what if they are?

The high-profile "bank" failures in SL clearly pointed the way for LL to take the action they did.

So if a RL bank wants to set up operations in SL, I'd be interested to see their business model, and how it works out.

That would probably be the fastest way to convince an RL bank to join SL. Offer tie-in credit cards. Give a 5% discount on all LL fees, and a credit card with your favorite SL photo, and I'm sure they'd get several signups.

Well have you ever seen the Capitol One commercials?
They don't show anyone being raped by the high interest rate, but they sort of imply it in my imagination with the big mean vikings pillaging.
Once you get the pillaging going with a bunch of Vikings, they want to do more.
I thought anyway reporting to the SL Police of crime would like be as successful as me asking the Linden's for several hundred Island Sims for free for next twenty years and actually getting them. LOL

I'm astounded at the number of ppl who think that a RL bank is gonna come into SL to do anything BUT huck for credit-card-applicaiton clickthroughs.

IME RL banks don't even want your business unless you've got at least 10K USD or more. Less than that and they offer you a sorta grudge "because the law forces us to" account where the fees are so high you lose money just by dealing with them.

Which one of these organizations is gong to be willing to come in here and deal with forty-cent transactions? None, from what I can see.
