There is this one forum, where anyone new that posts anything the least bit interesting gets piled on by a bunch of grumpy and venerable cynics in bad need of an ass kicking ...

This forum is quite tame compared to some of the viciousness on independent SL forums I've seen, particularly on one forum that closed down a year or so ago.

Yes, I am familiar with that one. That is why I mentioned it at the beginning. You do not have to try and sell me on SLU. Like I said, I am familiar with the Darkmere crowd that control that board. Thus the original question was asking for an active board that is not this one, nor the SLU one. It is OK if you do not know an answer. What I am looking for may well not exist.

If this forum died, I would start up a forum using vBulletin. Something that everyone is comfortable and familiar with. It also is very expandable and customizable.

Moderating is the hard part. I suppose less moderation is best, and the only time you need to step in is when one person is continuously harassing others with insulting/attack posts. Other than that, the occasional F-U is going to happen because for some reason, that is how some folks want to roll.

One by one the freedoms that we used to enjoy in SL have been taken away, or controlled in some way. The new 'adult' continent is just the latest in a long cycle, that shows no end.

I have been warned on this forum by the Mod, for discussing what she thought was another Virtual World (who then later apologised, when she found out that SL was collaborating with that other entity, which wasn't a VW anyway), and had threads locked (when people had much more to say on the matter, and started other threads to continue).

There is no open freedom to debate on this forum, (being controlled as it is in the so-called 'land of the free') and freedom is something I treasure.

Despite the shortcomings of unmoderated forums, I prefer those any day, where I really do have freedom of speech.

Too many people just accept being controlled.

This place is looking better all the time. If the security flaws are ever addressed I would prefer being here over any other forum I have yet seen and it does not even have the features of a typical 1980's BBS. It's the people here. Yes, even you, Rock.
