I am so famous that I had to go incognito, and now no one knows me.

on a side note, what is fame?....
I did have someone say... "I know you, you are the one who started that thread on the SL forums that refuses to die"... and at that moment I wanted to crawl away and hide, but it was cool, they were not there to bash me as has been the case in the past. This time it was funny, cuz they kept trying to remember where they saw my name. LOL

I also had someone stop by my store after chatting with me via a group chat window... IM me and say OMG you... YOU are THAT Rha! I never realized it was you!

heh, fame? maybe... fleeting for sure... but I am popular with my friends and family and that is all the fame I need!

I'm suprised Jumpy isn't all over this one.

@Pep - It's not the kill, it's the hunt that's the fun part.. some even practice a strict catch-and-release policy

Being famous/infamous isn't always cracked up to be. I do get the "Hey you are Chris Norse. I lurk the forums and see your name all the time." inworld all the time. It usually happens when I happen to be standing in front of a "insert kinky sex toy name" vendor.

:p

Yes, although that one doesn't always go over so well; must be the genetic "hunter" in men, I guess.

Which is why, incidentally, most men are really very very bad at flirting. :p

You know that the flirtation is a fail when you get: "So . . . do you have any RL pics?"

That seems a MUCH more sensible attitude than my initial urge to have a good sulk because no one has ever told ME in-world that they've read my posts . . .

Of course, we can't ALL be Chris Norse, can we?

I wish it were true :p

I've had the "OMG it's you" happen to me too. It's kind of hard not to with this horrific post count.

Unfortunately, being recognized for one's forum posts is not always a good thing...

black Duck tape makes for great imitation leather straps in photoshoots. Just cut strips to size and wipe down with that car stuff that makes tires shiny. and then have it, umm, applied as needed. It really works well! (looks good too.) ask Ken Marcus!

its modified using a bridge, integrating with your sl name, the webbie authentication, the entire registration system is heavily modified... plus, i believe there is a technical php versioning issue.

Sure, as a VB asst admin, changing it would take all of 5 minutes including making the pic itself, but LL won't do or allow that. These VB forums are pretty much "right out of the box" default with no customization done except for the header image and a few links added. Purchased, quick setup, and forgotten

Because ducks hate it when you tape them up.

But duck tape is the real name. It was invented in WWII for sealing packages and was called that by the soldiers because it shed water like a duck. It's not used for ducts at all... the tape you use for sealing ducts is a kind of stiff metallized stuff that's nothing like duck tape.

It's also known as Gaffer's Tape, in the entertainment industry.

From Wiki:

From: someone
Duct tape (sometimes called duck tape) is a vinyl, fabric-reinforced, multi-purpose pressure sensitive tape with a soft and tacky pressure sensitive adhesive. It is generally silver or black in color but many other colors and transparent tapes have recently become available. With a standard width of 1+7⁄8 inches (48 mm), duct tape was originally developed during World War II in 1942 as a water resistant sealing tape for ammunition cases.[1][2] Permacel, then a division of Johnson & Johnson, used a rubber-based adhesive to help the tape resist water and a fabric backing to add strength. It was also used to repair military equipment quickly, including jeeps, firearms, and aircraft because of these properties. In Canadian military circles, this variant is known as "gun-tape", typically olive-green, and also known for its resistance to oils and greases. Duct tape is also called "Riggers Tape", "100-MPH tape", or "Hurricane Tape" in the military [3] - a name that comes from the use of a specific variety of duct-tape that was supposed to hold up to 100mph winds. Another version attributes this to the fact that soldiers often refer to something that exceeds expectations as "High Speed."

In the post-war period, the housing industry boomed and people started using duct tape for many other purposes. The name "duct tape" came from its use on heating and air conditioning ducts, a purpose for which it, ironically, has been deemed ineffective. Its strength, low cost, and remarkable versatility make it a household staple throughout North America and Europe for temporary repairs and general-purpose use.
