From: Treasure Ballinger Oh I did, last night. That's how I saw it, but was wondering if it was that way for everyone. I was expecting to see it as Adult, but I guess not, and guess only see Adult on the new viewer. That is what I saw too. I haven't updated to the new viewer (released yesterday) yet, and I was not running the RC, so it all showed as Mature to me.

I don't understand what the technical fuss is about. A good thing about the new viewer is it kept all of my settings bar Windlight, which took all of half a minute to reload. I haven't used Aristotle or any other third party source to verify my age but I'm 'Payment info used' (as are all my alts) so it was just a matter of selecting 'PG, Mature and Adult' in the 'Preferences' dialog for all of my accounts. I only had to check the 'Adult' boxes in the 'Search' categories once though and they stayed that way for each alt as I logged them in. I searched 'Land' with all options except 'Adult' turned off and found Oatmeal: Nya pony kittens sex (kittens? kittens!?) and teleported. I found this in the 'About Land' tab: "This is an Adult rated region. If you can get here your account has been Account Verified. This region is available to the public for testing Account Verification changes. linden" From: Argent Stonecutter Given all the problems in the new viewer (starting with the daft changes to the pie menu) why should I even bother tryng it? The much derided changes to the pie menu in the RC have thankfully not been implemented in the new viewer. It's business as usual on that front. I don't see anything about shadows either, which was a disappointment. I guess that feature is still in development.

Weren't alts supposed to be linked to the main for verification? I have no desire to verify or put payment info in for each one, but it is tedious if the NPIOF cannot really go anywhere. I am only willing to trust LL or Aristotle with personal info once.

All my alts are 'Payment info used' because I had to make various purchases through them. However, I don't see how 'Payment info used' on one account would work for all accounts registered on the same email address. I know one or two families that share the same email address on their home PC. The same slack principle could be applied when ma, pa and their kids all set up different accounts in SL - 'five accounts per houselhold' is the limit LL cite when refusing a sixth account on the same email. Anyway, if you're going to trust the Lindens with your credit details once, why should it matter if you give them your details several times - apart from the inconvenience of entering those details on the payment information page?

From: Ephraim Kappler The much derided changes to the pie menu in the RC have thankfully not been implemented in the new viewer. Release notes for 1.23.4 says: Changed: VWR-8080[c]: Improved attachment pie menu for prim-based avatars https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-8080From: VWR-8080 From: Dessie Linden Fixed in 1.23.4, released on 06/15/2009. From: Cummere Mayo dessie, with all do respect, this ISNT fixed. its jsut changed again this time slightly better, but it still doesnt work well, it still doesnt mesh with ANY of the information on the KB or other resources. And this pie menu has still gotten a failing grade from most of the testers.

I'm using the new viewer: aside from editing the Font and Fontsize for scripts in the XML files back to what they were in 1.22 and the horrible grid when moving object and editing and the changed locations of the pie menu options and the color of object names, my name in the chat window and the message when searching for filtered terms without Adult checked being vague and the horrible font in the ctrl-shift-1 info screen and the change of Linden trees and plants no longer being flexi as default
yes, aside from those things i've notice in the last few hours, its not bad for a Beta piece of software

From: Milla Janick My technical fuss is, my frame rate plummeted to less than 10fps. I think that could be down to any number of things: my FPS is 200% up on the very scenes I discussed in this thread just last weekend: From: Ciaran Laval They've talked about it but haven't done it yet, I really don't understand why it's so difficult to do. When I had a question about an alt LL were able to find the info for me, so they know who my alts are. Isn't the 'Payment info' status of an avatar determined in-world by some server-side xml? I don't see how the issue of linking alts to the main account can be easily fixed in that case (the caveat is I'm thick as two short planks when it comes to coding). Besides, I've always understood that running multiple accounts is a privilege the Lindens indulge rather than a feature they are obliged to accommodate. Wouldn't the simple solution be to just take responsibility for your alt's status, log into the account and enter your credit card details? Of course anyone running a plethora of bots is quite rightly screwed if they can't be bothered to do even that much. From: Argent Stonecutter Release notes for 1.23.4 says: Changed: VWR-8080[c]: Improved attachment pie menu for prim-based avatars I don't understand the suffix 'c' there, and perhaps it's late and I'm tired, but after scanning that JIRA and looking at the pie menus I see absolutely no difference - apart from the reintroduction of 'Drop' on the 'Attachment' menu. I should say that I no longer give the menus much thought as I work but they seem to be working just fine in every way. As for rendering, I did get a bit jumpy when a few glitches with cache led to my jeans looking stubbornly 'painted' on my legs even after a couple of rebakes and some sculpt meshes on my parcel failed to load after a half hour whereas previously they snapped into shape within a minute. Having cleared the Cache and relogged, however, I have to say that these now load extremely well: my sculpted windows are right there, fully rezzed like prims, each time I log in now. That's a damn fine improvement in my opinion. Furthermore, the flexi curtains I was stressing over in that thread above are now flapping about like blue blazes and, if I'm not just lucky with my FPS this evening, I may have to lower the settings on the damn things. Correction I've just noticed 'Friends' isn't on the pie menu. Nevertheless I don't consider that a big loss personally: I don't maintain a friends list since it is no trouble for me to search someone I know if I feel the need to speak to them in IM. Otherwise, all the immediate edit commands are still there.

I have three alts and I'm not entering my credit card information again, they have it twice and that's one time more than they should need it, there's no need for all this redundant data. My alts without payment info on file will simply not go to adult land, no big deal just a very silly situation. If the flag can be made by me entering data it can be made full stop.

I just have to figure out what. The last RC runs great for me.

Likewise, why enter the information for all of my alts and increasing the odds of information being available to be hacked? Once should be enough.

From: Argent Stonecutter Why should I *care* whether the viewer reports the region ratings or shows up adult items in search?
Given all the problems in the new viewer (starting with the daft changes to the pie menu) why should I even bother tryng it? This. In all seriousness: at some point is content marked adult going to disappear for those of us who don't move on up to 1.23.4?

From: Alex Moraff Oh FFS, I thought all this age verification junk was being put on hold until all the glitches were worked out? Last I heard teh verification company was untrustworthy and supposedly selling info or something of the sort and on top of that, the verification didnt work for people in Canada...
-Sigh- more bs to worry about... worked fine for me (and I am canadian, used canadian drivers license when I did it)

From: samatha Congrejo you do if you want to get to any adult area starting in July i believe. the last thing I heard was that you can run 1.22 and be tp'd or use landmarks to get to the adult stuff, you just couldn't use search. But since things change on a whim around here it may or may not be true. Certainly at the moment you can get into zindra on 1.22.

From: Argent Stonecutter Unless you use a third-party viewer. But won't it dissapear from search results for 3rd party viewers without the 'adult' checkbox? And, obviously, your account will have to be verified or PIOF to tp to Zindra. No matter what the viewer.
