New Viewer Off to A Flop on Adult Feature!

It was a disaster waiting to happen, has diverted huge resources from more important needs to actually improve SL. It will alienate many residents, cost merchants huge expenditures in moving, rebuilding, and re-vendoring, losing their search ranking in the process, which means losing more sales, that is if they had managed to get a decent search result in the heavily gamed search.

Well it starts today with the new viewer release. I have had payment information on file for almost 3 years, and of course find out the viewer says I do not, and need to age verify. Think it's limited to me?

Concierge live help was so busy there were "no operators available". When I did get through I got the old file a support ticket, and we'll expedite it. Good luck to all those without concierge support, you'll be at the bottom of a very deep barrel.

Celty what you need to do is go to preferences its in one of the tabs there - then check you want to go to adult.

Then you may still have to check 'adult' in each of the search tabs too..

Payment info on file is fine for you to get to the new adult continent.

Heck I even saw child avis there dancing next to penis, it was rather sickening to be honest but a linden was present, questioned, did nothing, flew away...

well nobody HAS to use the new client we can stick to the old, or , like , use one of the many 3rd party clients?

Yes - there are afew places you have to "opt in" to for adult - the main one I think being in preferences.

i hate this new viewer...

why couldn't LL/SL keep things how they were. i mean all because some people didn't like the adult content...its very very simple for those people.... DON'T BLOODY GO THERE!!!!!

and why join both sl and teen sl, that's just asking for trouble.

why not make a version of sl with out adult content for both teens and those that don't want to see adult content and by the way sl is 18+, so its there bloody faults for signing up in the first place.....for god sake.

thanks to these party poopers us genuine sl members have to change are settings and prove are self simply because they cant do themselves a faver avoided adult content. well thank you very much

and this changing setting for PG,mature and adult.... that's really going to help people that don't want to see adult content

My sister is age verified but NPIOF, and adult is greyed out in all options for her. I'm going to try it myself and see whats up.

I installed the new viewer and my settings to see adult content in preferences was already selected for me. The only thing I needed to adjust myself was my settings for search. So far it seems to be running fine for me.

Oh FFS, I thought all this age verification junk was being put on hold until all the glitches were worked out? Last I heard teh verification company was untrustworthy and supposedly selling info or something of the sort and on top of that, the verification didnt work for people in Canada...

Age verification is still optional. If you want to access Adult rated regions, you need to either be age verified or have payment information on file with Linden Lab.

So- question- if you are on a third party viewer- this is just BS and we don't have to worry about it? Or can LL rach its gruby little mitts and force us non-sl client users into their wretched scheme?

(I have to ask 'cause i never have actively looked for Adult content so not really sure what i wd need to be looking for to find out i couldnt get it )

Actually it seems that age verification alone is not enough.

It should be, but doesn't always seem to work.

And it's my understanding (although have been wrong a lot lately) that those of us still on the 1.22 see the adult region as mature. That's how I read the blog, and that was my experience yesterday, the region showed as 'Mature' for me. I haven't had any problems with age verif, though. Someone awhile back posted that sim where you can go and test to see if your av is verified, I passed back then and so far no hitches.

Try a TP to one of the Zindra LM's and report back please.

Works fine in Cool Viewer 1.22.11, land reports to be Mature. I've never age verified but I've used payment info.

Oh I did, last night. That's how I saw it, but was wondering if it was that way for everyone. I was expecting to see it as Adult, but I guess not, and guess only see Adult on the new viewer.

I don't believe viewers older than 1.22 are capable of displaying anything but PG or Mature region ratings. Regardless of what is displayed in the viewer, an avatar that is not age or account verified can't teleport into an Adult region.

At least they aren't supposed to be able to.

Why should I *care* whether the viewer reports the region ratings or shows up adult items in search?

Given all the problems in the new viewer (starting with the daft changes to the pie menu) why should I even bother tryng it?

I'm using Cool Viewer 1.19 and I can get in, I'm PIU, not Aristotled, but as you said, it shows as Mature on my screen. I did see some people whose profiles said NPOIF, though.

Anyone tried Restrained Life with 1.23? I have 1.17 and 1.22 working perfectly now. Also am PIOF and age verified (using my US drivers license). Curious as to if anyone has tried that combination of everything (1.17 + 1.23 + PIOF + age verified). Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Marine will need to compile a new RLV for 1.23.

I just tped to Zindra the adult ghetto. It lands you on the bottom of an ocean sim, haha. If you tp to the nearest sim with any land, you are in the hub. In large symbols on the walls it warns you no nudity, sex or offensive language! What a hoot.

I think the new SL CEO is busy building thousands of stocks to clap people in who offend, I think I understand the new SL mentality now, it's a secret plan to turn SL into a Puritan village.
