Heads up: "Update to banned words list[2]"

I will have to go test the list again now *sigh*

Poker, Blackjack, Roulette and probably other casino games are now banned.

Any of you selling postal boxes with mail slots are in trouble

Now I am really pissed. I was considering a new character for some RPing:

"Roulette is a supervillainess in the DC Comics universe" (and a damn hot looking one too)


and a good thing I had already decided against the Transformers for RPing:

"Roulette is the name of a fictional character in the various Transformers universes"


And I guess these guys are just shit out of luck if they want to come to SL:

"Roulette is currently the most popular and notorious rock band in Russia and Eastern Europe."

At least "Blackjack" has been in the banned words list for a long time (I suppose most other casino terms too); I remember searching for that many months ago and getting the "banned search word" reply (I don't remember how it was worded back then though ;))

But of course, the girl in the song is only 15, so that falls under ageplay. Dammit.

O.o I see 'slots' so what about 'slot'?
In Dutch, a Slot is a castle. Holland's most known is called 'Muiderslot'

So basically LL allows people to run casinos but they are not allowed to advertise casinos. Or is that LL allows their friends/alts/dependents to manufacture, market, sell, and distribute gambling equipment while enforcing the no gambling policy upon people who are not their friends/alts/dependents and to obfuscate this they are going to hide the fact gambling still exists in SL.

That won't stop people from turning over landmarks and screenshots to the authorities and to the "companies" that operate Indian reservation casinos. If LL wants the problem gone from SL they best start at the source and get rid of the people manufacturing gaming systems.

Must be lawyers involved. I can smell them anytime you get near organized crime.

Yeah, the games list was added a couple of years ago, when just ads for casinos were prohibited, before the places were shut down.

Actually, has anyone checked to see if non English equivalents are also banned? I realize that SL is predominantly English, but there are a fair number in SL who speak French, German, Spanish, Japanese etc.

The gambling words have been banned for quite some time... i wanted to make some furniture based on those a few months back but decided against it when i saw just how many gambling-related words were blocked. The only one that worked for me was 'craps' lol...

The banned word thing is stupid, if youre underage and creeping about SL it's simple enough to type 'sex' in the places search and see all sorts on pg and mature sims. Linden Lab haven't taken this simple step themselves to see just how much adult content is easily accessible.

They want the community to turn against each other and report places not complying, or just ignore it like it isn't there....Bizarre....

It'd take a Linden less than a day of work to go through the parcels with 'sex' listed on mature and pg lands and switch them to the appropriate categories.

There's no point having blocked words when they don't even enforce their policies about content.
