I think it's because people are spending their extra money on Halloween? Really, that's one thing I've noticed with my own money... it's going into candy, cookies, cupcakes, costumes and such for the kiddo's class.

I go to dollar store get a bag of 1.99 assorted candies.. and 2 gal bleach, scrubbing pads a an extension hand and some car wax.. thats my expenses for halloween..

They sell products costing $1.99 in a 'dollar' store?

Nup. My sales are rock-solid steady, at the same rate they've been for the last six months or so at least. Sorry to be the bearer of good news :-7 but doomsayers notwithstanding, stuff in my store is selling at least as well as it always has.

yes sales are down

I think it is because of all the halloween hunts going on, after all, why buy it, if one can get it for free?

I suspect we will see the same thing at xmas

Speaking of Christmas, if I promise to be more of a help, want to run a Christmas grid wide hunt? *ducks before she gets hit*

If you havnn't seen any growth in your business for the last 6 months I wouldn't say that was good news for you.

Porky, you have a lot more experience in and knowledge of SL business than I, but I think holding steady over the past 6 months is pretty good. (My business is growing, but it's only 5 months old.)

Many business owners have a summer slump and SL's financial figures confirm that September was not good for SL businesses. I know several business owners who would love to have had the steady results that Nimbus reported.

Weak sales here. I think it's the U.S. elections rather than Halloween. I hope it's one of the two!

I think that there are a huge lot of halloween promotions going on as well, and people are out hunting:)

I did about the same this month as last month, where until last month I had maintained steady growth. Well, so far that is...because I have already had a pretty nice return from shoppers coming by my store during the Gridwide Pumpkin Hunt, so todays sales might bring me up a bit.

I think making sure you get involved in or host events like this is a great opportunity.

Why? The growth-at-all-costs economic model is a tad *cough* problematic, don't you think? I'm happy to continue steady-state, honestly. I have a constant stream of new and repeat customers buying my stuff. I suspect that to significantly increase my sales at this point, I'd need to significantly increase the amount of time I'm putting into my business... and since my business is a *part time* effort, that's not really gonna fly, since I do need to put some time into my RL work as well! If many other folk are reporting a downturn in sales, I'd say that keeping mine steady over that same time period is quite an achievement!

I have hasgreat sales he last few days, though interestingly not to many from my main store as I would hav thought becuase of the hunt i was involved in. Although it may change as epopel get through the items they collected and come bak to my store to try things out again maybe?

I also finally got around to joining and paying that 1000l fee for fashion consolidated, so I am interested to see what theresults of that will be when im added to be allowed to post to that group. With 10,000 members i am hoping i can at least make back the initial cost (around 20 sales for me). Anything more than that is a bonus YAY.

I am here to make money and I forget that other business owners are not purely driven by that. If I saw 0% growth over a 6 month period then alarms bells would be ringing for me. I cant identlfy with your satisfaction of having a stagnated business. This past weekend has been my best of this year. I sell prefabs not pumpkins by the way. So the customers are there. the money is there. Unfotunately the competition is also there and if you are not willing/skilled enough to step up and compete then you are gradually going to go from 0% growth into negative growth.

Tha majority of people here are 'part time'. I work 60 hrs a week in RL and spend about 20 hrs a week in SL. I earn more per hour for the time I invest in SL than i do in RL and have done for the past 2 years. You dont need to spend every second of your free time here, just focus purely on Quality rather than quantity. Try and create a few 'must have' items and market them well. Plenty of other people I know play SL as a hobby and still have thriving businesses today. They are just good at what they do.
