I normally don't monitor sales on a daily basis, but when there's almost no sales over a few days, it does catch my attention.
Just wondering if any other merchants have noticed a drop in business this week?

Yes, definitely. Even before the Openspace announcement, though that really did it in.

There has been for sure. But it seemed to pick up last night. Waiting to see what this weekend holds.

I think it's because people are spending their extra money on Halloween? Really, that's one thing I've noticed with my own money... it's going into candy, cookies, cupcakes, costumes and such for the kiddo's class.

My sales are down since the OS announcement, but I'm not worried about it. I may have to move my store if my landlord cannot figure out a way to keep her estate going, but I'm not worried about that either. In the whole scheme of things, if I closed my store instead of moving it, I would have more time to spend with my SL friends who I have been neglecting since my store started getting successful.
In the whole scheme of things, this is just a pebble on the road of life. _____________________

Well in order to move to my new OS my shop closed last friday, and 1 day after I re-opened, LL came with their surprise
So my sales were down quite a bit the last few days, if it were not for a a few affiliate sales they would be zero. Hopefully I am back in business next week, get my search ranking back, and then see if the OS debacle influenced my sales. Probably not that much._____________________

I don't know if it is related but I have noticed a massive selloff of l$ on lindex. On the order of 4 times more than the normal end of the month I gotta pay bills selloff.
I think the OS debacle has alot of people VERY nervous and they are playing things safe and cashing out. If my supposition is right folks would have less L$ available to spend on merchandise just my 2L$ worth and by no means necessarily correct. |

I kinda stopped spending after I went digital. Kinda can't shop around for outfits for an avatar that doesn't wear anything. (^_^)y

My rather brisk sales dropped to near zero, perhaps coincidentally with the OSS announcements. Although, to be honest, Halloween precupations may be a factor as well since just about the only sales I've made are my Frida Kahlo avatar.

Sales in early October were a little disappointing. This week, however, sales have been extremely good.
I have a few Halloween items. Those have helped, especially my Halloween Party Invitations. But the vast majority of sales have been for non-seasonal items. If I maintain average sales for the remainder of the week, I'll have my best week ever. _____________________

(^_^)y I s'pect you also have one of the troubles I run into: so often if there's someting I want, one of the first thoughts is "can I make this" versus "where can I buy this." That said, I often make impulse buys, and will pick up things I see because of "I gotta have that" syndrome. _____________________

True that... I've been in "I'll build it" mode for a while. But... I gotta admit... Last night I was in Bare Rose and said "Ooh, feathers!" (^_^)y Yup, yup. I'll build a lot of stuff, but when I look over the last couple weeks, I see more'n a couple moments of "oh, want!" You know, like that big floaty thing I keep buzzing the infohubs in. ![]() (Sorry, Nova Albion an Ahern f'r the low passes, an sorry f'r the threadjack!) _____________________

yes sales are down
I think it is because of all the halloween hunts going on, after all, why buy it, if one can get it for free? I suspect we will see the same thing at xmas _____________________

If my supposition is right folks would have less L$ available to spend on merchandise just my 2L$ worth and by no means necessarily correct. I think the fluctuating exchange rates may also be a cause of this. Last week the value of the £ GBP was very high against the $ USD. I and others I know took advantage of this and I was selling every spare L$ I could find. I had quite a lot up for sale at good prices that have been there for months without selling so i sold everything at 263 and cashed out. Even cashed out money I had in inworld to pay my private estate and my tier to LL! Had to have a bit of faith that i would make enough money this week to cover tier! It paid off though, i could not believe how many pounds I got for my USD. Crazy times. _____________________

In the whole scheme of things, this is just a pebble on the road of life. I agree, Cheree. I have some intermittent sales on Xstreet SL & OnRez. Nada from my current store location. I am not actively advertising either, but I did run a special on FabFree and got only two sales for that, which was a lot different than when I've offered other items on FabFree. As others have mentioned, at this point in my Second Life, I either build what I want (I really no longer have "needs" , and my wardrobe is bulging from wonderful dollarbies that I have yet had time to go through thoroughly. Halloween, people making RL purchases for Christmas, the economy, the elections in the US...all play into the SL economy I think. But, like you, I may just put anything I make on XStreet SL and OnRez and "maybe" still go with my idea of a small, cozy shop and just enjoy SL. _____________________

Usually when these threads are posted, I don't respond as my sales haven't slumped like others at various times
(or it's expected, like summer SL doldrums), but ironically this time yes, this week has been noticeably quieter than last despite even having MORE exposure at a couple places. Last week I believe I saw more XSt. sales than in world? Which is also a bit different than usual._____________________

Definitely down for me. I'll be lucky if I can make tier next month at this rate. I'll cross my fingers though.

I have actually been so busy with all of the various Halloween related hunts that I have decreased my regular shopping by quite a bit this month.
I keep forgetting how much my shopping addiction impacts the SL community -- I'll make a note to spend a bit extra in the few weeks after Halloween to make up for it. ![]() _____________________
