Anyway, I showed up wanting to dance and was screamed at by four different people ...

Self-righteousness is epidemic in SL, and I've become allergic from overexposure. :)

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Did you even read my post (in this thread!) about how facelights need to be used judiciously to not bother anyone? It's a management issue, not a moral issue! It needs education, not knee jerk reaction and scorn!
Subtle (low intensity and small radius) facelights will end somewhere at the back after the nuclear facelights and ambient lights so they end up being visible to the wearer and maybe 1 or 2 others if they're close enough and even those still cast a halo/whitewashing effect affects others.

An entirely different approach would be to have attached lights light only the avie they're attached to and nothing/noone else. You can light your avie however you want then, and it will be visible to everyone else, but it won't affect anyone/anything but you.

As far as "educating" people... walking up to someone random and pointing out that their facelight is out of control is going to be taken as "plain rude" and won't make anyone change their mind.

Did you have a nuclear light bulb on, or just a normal, subdued facelight?

Sirena hair has very subtle facelights in it. Some of the subtlest I've found anywhere, in any form.

People really need to chill the eff out imo.

Amen!

/me sighs.

Y'all should make sure to get lots of particle emitters and attachments that do sounds at least 3-4 times a minute, too. That'll make it even easier for us to spot you and hit the mute button.

I got myself a free facelamp today, and it works wonders.

Now, I do have one question, and it there such a lamp that can illuminate my entire avatar?

And another question: Why is this thread all of a sudden becoming a soap opera?

Glad you like it.

Yes. In fact, the facelight you have now will do it. Light prims are omnidirectional...they cast light in all directions. Just move it a little farther from you and raise the intensity or lower the falloff or increase the radius a bit.

Facelights are a controversial topic. Some of us love the look they give our avatars. Others hate the light pollution (and in fact, it's quite easy to overdo it, with too bright a light or too many emitters).
