yea we tried that, it didn't fix it.
Would using a different version of the client affect this? I'm using the most recent "official" sl client (not an RC or anything). I wouldn't think that this would be affected by anything client side, friends lists must be kept server side (I would have to assume).

Did you try removing each other, delete calling cards, and then clear cache (both of you) and relog?

The most likely answer is that she doesn't want to be on your Friends list and keeps deleting you, but doesn't want to hurt your feelings and so keeps adding it back when you ask.

There are many reasons why people delete friends, most of them are about having a little privacy. Someone was complaining here the other day about there not being any way to be on SL secretly - no "Hide Me From Everyone" button on the login screen. So you have to delete all your Friends (or turn off the "Can See Me Online" (eyeball) icon on the list for everyone (which is impractical, and only works after you are already logged in). And they can still see you on mutual Groups or IM you or offer you inventory, even if that's turned off. (And alt accounts are not a good solution either.)

Since she keeps adding you back to Friends, I wouldn't take it too personally.

When posting images, especially ginormous ones, would it be possible to avoid .png images? They're a bitch to load.

Don't tell me someone's still using a version of IE so old that PNG is still a plug-in!

Oh heavens no. It's just that my connection goes slow as heck occasionally, and when a page has a single .png, it takes around 3-4 times as long to load as if it has a single .jpeg, because they're so much larger. Unless it's something that suffers horribly from compression artifacts (Mathematically specific images, and small art. That's all I can think of), there's no reason not to save it as a jpeg for use online.

Earlier today, the page stopped loading aside from that image, until it was completely done, then continued. It's a hindrance, and a silly one, in my opinion.

I am quite sure this isn't the case, since she contacts me first as often as not since I can't see her online. Also, she does have alts and her alts are still on my friends list. Besides, she is a close friend.. not just an aquaintance. If she didn't want to be on my friends list i'm quite sure that I'd be aware there was a problem.

Sorry about that...it was about a 700K image (upload size), which is the same size as my normal hi res JPG's. All I did was take a snapshot to my hard drive, and logged onto Flickr and used the upload menus, copied the link from the bottom of the Flickr screen and pasted that link into my forum post. I didn't even notice it was a PNG not JPG. It loads quite quickly with my Comcast HSI link so I didn't notice that it might be slow on a less speedy connection. I'll watch out for that in the future. :-( Jackie

At my job, my boss found himself in the very weird situation that there were three people, who just could not mail him. He could mail them fine, we all could mail them fine and we could recieve mails. It didn't matter, which computer he would use. The tech has been in and the problem is now on top level tech support. So there really could be some really, really odd database problem of sorts. Maybe, if you both send in a ticket on this problem, and keep on doing it, then they might think "Hey, wait, there might be something really odd going on here". Maybe you two are the only one realising, and there might be a lot of others out there just thinking "Hey, my friend probably is in the process of ditching me the polite way"

Just a thought (o:

Ok, so I think I got a clue as to what is happening, but I Don't know why.

My friend and I were talking (she IM'd me first....btw) and I readded her to my friends list. I looked at my contacts and it showed her name there, and showed her online... as it should. Then I looked at the "online friends" page on the SL web site... and it did NOT show her online. I double checked.. yes she was there online on my friends list... refreshed the web page multiple times. IT showed all my other online friends but not her. It seems to me that her name is never getting saved to my friends list on the server. Adding her automatically adds her to my list, but she never makes it onto the server list so when I log out an back in... it reads my friends off of the SL servers and she isn't there so she never gets put back on my list until I add her again.

I don't know WHY this happens..... or how to fix it.... but that seems to be the situation.

Maybe you should open a ticket with LL. I have, and I am not premium. (I am a prize, though!)

I'm quite curious to know what it is!

No, but I think there should be a thread about it.

Seven - since you're here...can you check your Friends list and see if I'm still there? I will be rechecking mine at lunch time. I don't recall seeing you there (again). Thank you. Jackie

Jackie - I see you. You are my friend. I won't delete you.

I'll let you know if you slip off my friends list.

/me hugs you uncheckably

I looked at the Jira-scope:

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4515

some duplicate jiras give more info. People try all kinds of things, like

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-2498

but they cannot shake the problem.
