I just had a thought, and if you know me, you know I never have a thought and keep it to myself... (must work on this)

What are your thoughts on a group of avatars starting at the NW corner of a continent, and flying a "search pattern" and just ARing anything that violates CS/TOS... primarily ad farms, those pyramid scheme boxes, and builds over LL protected land?

Would it just overload an already strained AR system? Would it make a difference? ...Should I just sit quietly and avoid overusing elipses?

Mostly that my life is busy enough without looking for stuff that does not directly impact me- if it did I would have done something about it with out having to go look for it.

To err is human; to really foul things up you need a committee.

Personally, I vote with my traffic and my Lindens. If I don't like a place, I avoid it and I tell my friends.

The problem with this idea is getting a group of people to agree on what's offensive.

Good point.

I should mention I'm far to lazy to actually put this into action. I was just curious about other peoples' take on the idea.

I can't even imagine the number of days that would take.

Laziness comes into play with me as well.

Don't call it laziness... call it "an economy of movement in the interests of efficiency."
...looks great on a resume'.

Y'know I've AR'd the junk in my area and that hasn't gotten cleaned up so I have a feeling that idea won't work too well.

I think that going out to INTENTIONALLY find things to AR could be considered harassment.

One of the first thing they tell Mentors is that Mentors are helpers not vigilantes.

Neither are anyone else, Mentor or not.

As long as someone else runs to the store for soda and chips, I'll vote for Annabelle for committee chair.

I dunno... I'm too busy surfing the web to remember...

[Edit: Anna, I found your group! It's already set up! From "Stuff White People Like":

"Two white people from the Somerville, MA created an organization called “TEAL: Typo Eradication Advancement League,” and vowed to travel across the country fixing typos. This is especially interesting since every other time two late 20s white males have traveled across the country it has been to visit all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums.

All was well until the two men defaced a hand painted sign in Grand Canyon National Park. They were caught, arrested, fined, and banned from National Parks for one year.

While white people have little trouble paying fines of $3,000, the ban from public parks for one full year is considered especially harsh considering white people’s need for camping and other outdoor activities.

Questions for discussion:

1. When there is a typo on a vintage sign, what is more important: Grammar or character?
2. Once all typos have been corrected, what will be the next cause for white people to solve? (side note: do not say Africa, white people are already fast at work making t-shirts)"]

Would it be possible for LL to declare certain well-known and disliked objects 'deletable' by anyone? I'm thinking things like those money pyramids or giant tree screens - so that wherever you find one, you can delete it.

Might be interesting to take a team, start at one corner of the grid and do random acts of anonymous kindness...

...that would teach 'em!

grins

might work people up and cause the practise to spread...

Could always say you're doing your part for "Energy Conservation" :)

OR- You're doing your part of "Being Green" by not doing much, as doing stuff burns calories, which makes body heat, which helps the planet warm even faster! SO..... Nobody move!!!
