From: Scylla Rhiadra Frankly, I am tired of the "caveat emptor" model of commerce in SL. I don't believe in regulation for the sake of regulation, but there are FAR too many snake-oil salesmen out there. The prevalence of this kind of fraud suggests that the idea that "word of mouth" will prevent creators from foisting crap onto their customers doesn't work; while the best retailers do enjoy the just desserts of a well-earned reputation, it's too easy for flight-by-night operators to make a quick buck selling shite, secure in the knowledge that word about their practices will filter out, if at all, very very slowly indeed. But I'll shut up now before this becomes a rant on the evils of unrestricted and unregulated capitalism . . . Word. Not to divert the thread, but... yes, unequivocally (spelling hampered due to influx of martinis this evening), agreed. To the OP: yes, these are difficult lessons to learn. SL is far more like the wild west where anything and everything can and does happen.

From: Scylla Rhiadra I thought your spelling was superb. I hope the martinis are as good. Thank you. It was one of those moments where the word didn't look right. The martinis are excellent: 1.5 oz Stolichnaya Raspberry vodka 2.5 oz Sour Puss Raspberry 1 oz raspberry cranberry juice garnish with frozen mixed berries /me is still unable to fathom the appeal of sion chickens, but will leave sleeping dogs be

/me is still unable to fathom the appeal of sion chickens, but will leave sleeping dogs be Mmmmmm. I wonder if I still have any vodka in the house . . . I looked after some Sion Chickens for a few months for a friend: they were group owned, and I was one of the officers, so it was a sort of responsibility. If ever there was a case to be made for the eradication of a virtual species, they are it. The whole business is an enormous money-making scam, and the chickens were fragile, annoying, and noisy. I wasted absolutely enormous amounts of time feeding them, keeping the roosters from killing each other, and from impregnating the hens (because otherwise one had a population explosion on one's hands, adding to the cost of feeding them exponentially). And I became increasingly irritated by IMs from visitors to the sim, who were kind enough to inform me that some of the chickens were "hungry," or looked "ill," or had died, or whatever. If KFC had opened a franchise in SL, I'd have happily shipped the whole lot of 'em off, and cheered as they were thrown into the deep fryer.

From: Isablan Neva I had a customer IM the other day with the complaint that sections of one of my skyboxes weren't lining up. He tried two different skyboxes and both did the same thing. When I teleported over to see what was going on, the problem was obvious - he was rezzing the skyboxes right at the edge of the sim. When SL couldn't place one wing where it should have gone, it moved it over and up - resulting in a mess.
When rezzers go wrong, 75% of the time it is SL.
The rest of the time it's either a problem with something the customer is doing or a problem with the build (in which case it should be fixed...pronto.)
Lastly, who in their right mind buys a house that is no mod? Wasnt a rezzing problem, as it was the same problem at the store.. and I would NEVER buy a house that was not mod.. but the ad for the house and the NC included in the house all stated it was mod..
