I have a close friend that is a BIG Godard fan. (sample pic below) While visiting his gallery in Las vagas, I found my new favorite artist who goes by the name Tomado. I never can find him on google tho Any way, he does great cats but in a sytle that I would call a mix of van Gough and Jackson Pollack. If I can find a sample of his work I will add it in later --- yeah, you see that posted a lot and no one ever follows through. You really do need a secretary ;> http://thomadroart.com/thepaintings.html |

One of my friends really like that designer she has the one
with fall leaves and some other pretty cool gold ornate patterns, it's really good good work but t doesn't look hand drawn or painted, it just looks photo sourced from public domain site. I spend numerous hours over years studying different textures, pondering how they were made, etc and their are certain public domain images that I recongize because they are very common, often used for people learning how to use 3d art programs. I personally want to reproduce only hand drawn, mouse drawn textures and clothes but not everyone wants too. Some people can paint photo realistically but it's not something just any one can do without like years of practice like one designer can't remember name of that runs 2nd skin. I can reproduce art images but I can't reproduce photo realistic images of bodies or certain things yet to my liking. I have done few art clothing items but it all either hand drawn orginal works by me, hand drawn and tweak with flaming pear and Photoshop based fabric textures to clothing but I am perfectionist and often don't release much because I am horrible with setting things up in packages and often it takes one entire outfit weeks for me to be happy with. Last night I just did Baroque texture series for men's clothes, I got long coat friends are trying to convince me to package it and set it for sell for 400L because similar one's often go for 800L. They were trying to convince me if I charged more people would expect quality but I don't like charging people a whole lot. I have no clue what is out there personally few times friends took me shopping it made me cranky and I end up having tantrum with crap I got stuck with that could have made and uploaded 30 or more art paces of my own. 300 to 400L isn't a whole lot but it all adds up I rather use the money to create my own artwork regardless if anyone else sees it or not, then pay some designer I am not happy with what they made. I have bought artwork and items from people that I like, want to encourage or when they are exceptional original artist. Personally I try not to look at what others are making unless some cute guy shows up on my lot with really sexy outfit and I find myself studying their crotch. Get Butch is probably only male store that I know of that has detailed highlight of the male crotch that I stumble upon as I was studying sexy pixel guys crotches over the summer. I want to do something goes little beyond a very well place highlight if I can pull it off. Other then studying art work on web, fabrics and textures I tend to single mindfully only focus on stuff I make. With only occasional things I stumble upon in forum or personal friends show me that they have bought or their own stuff that they make. I don't really need to shop in SL often, I rather make it myself or make something with a friend if I don't know how or can't figure it out. _____________________

I keep an eye on Brooklyn is Watching at the sim Popcha.
It's like an artist's sandbox with a week-long autoreturn. Anyone can leave work there, and the space is linked to a real-life gallery in new york, where SL is being run on a large screen television and gallery visitors can see the art that's been left (or even watch you live, if the timing is right.) The work is also chronicled and critiqued on their website, and in a weekly podcast. Recently brought to the forums' attention because something fell on someone's head ![]() The work varies widely and changes week to week- selling is not prohibited, but I don't know that most take advantage of that. Best of all, it's all free to participate. No matter what your skillset, you can leave work there and maybe get the chance to start a dialogue with other artists and patrons of the arts in SL. you can also find a comprehensive listing of SL art galleries here: http://sl-artgalleries.blogspot.com/ ps- can someone tell me how to hyperlink things in this forum? I still can't figure it out... sheesh... |

I'm a contributing member to a couple of art 'galleries', I have work in Primtings which represents real life art, usually 2-dimensional in a Second Life 3-dimensional form and I show regularly at Brooklyn Is Watching, which is a sim for artists to place their work to show other residents, it is also viewed on a 52 inch monitor in a RL gallery, Jack Pelicans in Brooklyn US.
Presently I have just set up a piece on a sim that was originally intended to be displayed at Brooklyn Is Watching, my work tends to be quite large installation pieces. Although not intended originally it follows a Halloween theme, but that may have diluted the original message somewhat. The inspiration of the piece started with a photograph by Philippe Halsman after a drawing by DalĂ of a human skull consisting of seven naked women's bodies. Other references include psychological fear, horror, selling one's soul (selling out) and a touch of recession paranoia. The piece is called 'Skullduggery', there are a few skulls. If your interesting in seeing larger scale art, I've added relevant SLurls below. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Roots/190/123/26 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Primtings/162/47/28 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Popcha/66/141/22 |

I would like to do some SL based artwork at some stage but I'm not sure what yet. I do have RL art skills but I want my SL stuff to reflect SL. At the moment my underground gallery is full of SL snapshots of meee (LOL) - perhaps it's time for a change.
