Try changing clothes, or altering your shape or what not in a public area. and go more than 30 seconds without being disturbed. . That was the o 1 reson for buying land in my case. I used the free changing rooms at NCI until I had a place, or I rezzed freebie house on a sandbox to empty my shopping bags.

I can sympathize... I never liked changing in public either.. pixels or not, these avs are a representation of ourselves. Some people are more modest than others and speaking for myself, as a woman, I only want to look my best in public.

Well, it's good for me to be reminded of that, Dementia - you see, I don't perceive my avatar as much of a representation of myself, and I've never been terribly modest, coming from a large family where everyone was very open with each other. I do concede that it would be difficult for people for whom those things hold true. There was certainly no criticism of the OP intended.

Osprey, as a total believer in freedom of expression, I'd be the last person to suggest that people shouldn't do as they wish. I simply have a problem understanding this particular issue, since SL is not, to me, a reflection of RL. And Morwen, thanks for the compliment - in some things, I hope I go to the grave naive.

Maybe it's a generational thing, given that I'm much closer anyway to the grave than the cradle - just a rapidly aging one-time hippy (authentic era)...

Designs by Cleopatra, Black Moon, Gala Skins, and Dazzle (Last Call) come to mind as having changing booths, last time I was at their places.

I haven't been to Dazzle since the remodeling, but in the old shop the problem I had with the changing rooms is that the walls are so close and there was a "roof", that it made cam'ing around to be able to see myself a challenge.

On the topic of why not get naked in public, it's just pixels... IMHO, I want to make myself look proper before going out to be seen by others. I want to have my outfit assembled and not stand around with passers-by walking by with bits and pieces of different outfits hanging off me.

Granted, guys will ..um.. adjust themselves in RL public, so I guess, for them, getting naked in SL public is not such a big deal. :-)

Long story short, I'm going to be homeless again soon. As much as it pains me, I may have to cough up some L$ for a place to call Home, unless I can find myself a ..um.. patron. I'd elaborate, but that would very OT. ;)

As mentioned before, I don't need a fancy place. I don't need a lot of prims. I browsed the Classified and there are a few places advertised for less than L$100 per week. As much as I prefer to depend on the kindness of strangers, I may have to pay for my own hovel. :(

I have some beach huts for rent (35 prims, L$175* a week).

Originally I'd intended these as shops but then people started renting them as small temporary homes!

IM me in world for details.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

The OP is obviously too thrifty to pay for a home, perhaps she prefers to recycle rather than start a new thread?

Just join The Forum Cartel Group and use the changing room at the Hangout. Problem solved.

Beat me to it. We don't care about people "trying to get something for nothing".

NCI also has a group and spot of land that allows you to set as home, if that has not changed...

Girls, girls, you are all so kind, but I get the feeling that she really is looking for a 'patron', ie a sugar daddy.

I like a good freebie as much as anyone else but come on - lamenting paying for something? In here? Especially in the middle of what is effectively a massive price hike for Europeans?

I like to remind newbies that they don't actually NEED anything. No one needs a damn thing in here, these are all wants. But why should it feel like pulling teeth to pay another resident for their services? I don't mind people looking for free stuff but this sentiment bugs me.

I don't ask for much. I don't need a mansion. I am looking for a place to call CTRL-SHIFT-H where I can change outfits and unpack boxes. I'm uncomfortable doing this at a mainland telehub with the crowds, noobs shooting off guns, etc. Optimally, it would be FREE.

I'd appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks,

Veronica

There is a place that offers free land but you have to wait. Maybe a friend will let you hang out on their land once in a while or join a group that will? Otherwise I advise you seriously to do one of two things ... find some water deep linden owned water, and go and change there or get a flight hud that allows you to fly very high fly up really high and change there .
