Some times I use 2 or 3 viewers when I need extras in machinima. Right now I'm logged in on two accounts playing J-tris multi-player against my self. I have also used 4 viewers at once to play another game in SL. While sitting here I was thinking about how pathetic I am playing all by myself when there are 45000 other people online (minus the bots anyway.) I got to thinking that there must be other uses for multiple viewers. What creative ways have you found to for using more than one viewer at a time?

I occasionally log an alt in on a text-only viewer. Usually she's a store-mannequin if I'm promoting something new. Now and then I need another pair of hands to test something I'm working on, or another body for testing an animation.
Not creative uses as much as they are uses for creation. oh, and I've sometimes parachuted an alt in to grab a lucky chair item - assuming it wouldn't take it from someone nearby.

I'll use multiple viewers with an alt to test permissions/scripts or to model for an ad. If I'm really bored I'll use it to talk to myself.

I use multiple viewers for snapshots and mooching freebies from lucky chairs.

I forgot about shopping for animations. I TPed my SL/RL gf while I was testing out a sex bed. I still have yet to live that 'solo exploration' down lol.

Testing permissions and when I need to test scripts, particularly RLV ones. My alt is also a co-owner on all my RLV stuff, in case I get stuck anywhere and need someone to free me (yet to happen because I'm careful, but it seems a sensible precaution). Sometimes she goes and helps my business partner position animations while I'm off doing something more interesting.

As a roleplayer, I may have as many as 4 to 6 clients open at once, each with a different alt, so I can play my main characters as well as several others used as NPC's. For example, rather than having my main character sitting alone in the reception hall of my castle with a guest, I might also have a guard at the door who escorts them into my presence and then stands guard while they are there; a maid who enters and offers tea and sushi; as well a courtesan who entertains us by playing a song on one of several musical instruments that she owns.
As a builder and content creator, I will log in a second account to test and align pose balls and check permissions on items. I also sometimes use a second account as a remote camera, to view a project from more than one viewpoint as I work. I also use multiple logins to assist other content creators in setting up default positions for multi-avatar furniture poses.
I sometimes log in with an additional alt to see what is going on somewhere far away. Like to check on activities in my home sim while I am busily working on a building site, or to socialise "in person" as one of my alts while another account is building.
And yes, I will admit, sometimes I will "play solitaire" in SL by posing scenes with several of my own accounts, when none of my friends are available to play with, and I'm bored. It's mot as satisfying as interacting with others, but can be useful in establishing pose sets and sequences of actions that I may use later with someone else.

I did try once, I used my alt in dragon form and I took some cool photos. But I have not been able to succesfully use 2 viewers without crashing both viewers for longer than 5 min... so ... I dont bother, but if I could get my dragon alt and main on at same time thats what I would do with 2.. as for 3, oh my I would not even attempt to try that! (also as a builder it sure would help to be able to use 2 for placement of sit balls and such) I am always trying to find someone to help! (they get bored easly)

Mainly for testing and tweaking animations. Apart from that, I have multiple avs logged in almost permanently but usually not on viewers.

I used multiple viewers initially just to see if I could, as a test. Then I played about a bit with the idea of using them to create images for a cartoon strip. But I haven't done very much.

From: Rafe Phoenix I like this idea. I'm going to start a new thread on it I've never used it before but there is some sort of freebie hud thing you can use to create comics in SL. Actually it was free during the beta period so it might not be free anymore as this was a while ago. I'm unclear what the advantages are compared to using basic PS skills. http://murku.pbworks.com/

After going to your link I see that they have already done it. Maybe I will still do one for the forum peeps though.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more SL comics around considering what a good platform it would be to make them - or maybe I'm just not aware of them.

I ran a BDSM scene that needed a few other people going through the process of being transformed into love dolls. I used my husband's computer (big assed Alienware beast) and a couple of alts to run multiple instanceses of SL for these "prop" avatars.

Alt Avs are a fascinating way to explore and develope characters. I write fantasy, horror and sci-fi. SL gives me the opportunity to have several 3D characters plotted out. They grow, they approach the same situation/another av in a different manner. It's a fascinating psychological study of the mind & compartmentalization.

I noticed that I can't fully act like myself in my alts, especially one of them who seems to have a different personality all his own. I open two viewers and "talk to myself" and apparently the personality change is enough that I have people questioning me if it's REALLY an alt. I guess I get into character really well? None of my alts act like Kira..
