...Interestingly, I'm way more shy and less likely to chat people up when I'm running the alt. I'm pretty sassy and outgoing as Looli, but as Fin, I find I second guess my smart-ass commentary because I'm worried I'll come off as a jerk.

I had a male alt for a little while, and I had the same problem.

I finally gave it up as a bad job and just decided to be me.

(But I did recently create a new alt. I just wanted to use the name "Zindra". I haven't done anything with her yet, but one of these days I just might)

I have a male alt I use a fair bit. For ages and ages I forgot the password for that account and was locked out, then finally I resurrected him. I used him very sparingly until the Make Him Over Hunt in June and then I started using him way more than this account. A few of my female friend also have male alts and we did a lot of the hunt together and had guys nights and just had fun all around.

Interestingly, I'm way more shy and less likely to chat people up when I'm running the alt. I'm pretty sassy and outgoing as Looli, but as Fin, I find I second guess my smart-ass commentary because I'm worried I'll come off as a jerk.

Very true. When I made my main back into a male and switched the alt to female I got myself in big trouble as a male from making the same comments that were "sassy and cute" when coming from a female. Interesting phenomenon.

What do the Lycans do?

Is there a hud for them, if so what does it do? Lycans are way cool in my book.

Long ago, I married a lycan in sl and he got really pi**ed when I fooled around. It was great fun. But, boy!, was he a jealous man ...err, wolf ... err, wolfman.

One of my male friends in sl had a female alt coz he wanted to partner this gorgeous woman who was a lesbian. That didn't work out either.

I have a male alt, originally created to test scripts & poses. I wanted to make him look different from most male av's, so I made made him one of those skinny cockney-like types with slightly sunken chest and pale pale skin? Succeeded beyond my wildest dreams, yuck.

Then I tried to RP a guy with him and discovered that I'm terrible at it. I was either WAY too abrupt and rude, or wussy beyond belief. I came away with moar respect for both guys, and for those who successfully play cross-gender.

Clawing?

That is nowhere near as sexy as being a Blood Doll. :(

I think just about anybody who makes stuff has to have an opposite gender alt. I will admit to having a female alt but she has no life, will never pixel slap and she is only rarely to be found naked in some abandoned field testing skins or trying on PixelSlapping.com panties.

I created my primary alternate account to serve as a front for a food-themed business that hasn't really been launched yet. I wanted the account to have an appropriate name and so Bona Pettit was born. Since the name sounds feminine I've made her female. Now there is a danger she may start having more fun than me.

I have a male alt. He was created because I used to run around collecting demos and landmarks to save my husband some legwork and I started to feel weird in the male shape I'd made. Or maybe it was because I wanted to see how that shape would look as its own person.

He leads a pretty dull life, mostly as the group's financial officer. He occasionally does some exploring if I want to be alone or incognito. A lot fewer people approach male avatars, it seems. When my husband was living away, I'd log the alt on if I thought he might log on but wasn't really up to talking to everyone on my friends list. (ETA - I could have done that on an alt of either gender, though. My only alt at the time happened to be male. And if my husband logged on, either I would talk to him 'through' the alt, or the alt would log off and 'put Nic on'.)

At one time he went dancing fairly often. (ETA - the alt, not my husband.) This was mostly because I noticed the average male/female ratio at places I used to go and figured at least this way two of us could dance... but I started to feel that some women would not be open to that, even in a dance partner, and then I was busy doing other things anyway.

A thread a couple of months ago about men's style inspired me to give his hair and clothes a bit of a makeover, and I think he has a rather distinctive look, but I may be fooling myself. I really should take some pics and post them one of these days.

Ok original question:

Nicole is an alt that developped to share the 'main' spot.

I also have an asexual av, and a genderswapping av.

As for 'lycan' I hate that term. Bad mythology behind it.

Let's see... male original with a gender-neutral name who almost immediately became female. Female alt with a female name, who became my main, and is occasionally (rarely, and in private) male to test poses. Another alt with a gender-neutral name for privacy during a bad time in SL; this one has an androgynous shape. Another rarely used alt with a male shape, created to grab my RL (male) birth name. Final alt with my adopted RL female name and a female shape built to look as much like my RL MtF body as possible.

Hah!

Your name sounds like "boner" and you think it sounds feminine? I'd be careful about the sort of fun she thinks she's having. :D

Pep (I once had a gf who called herself 'Beej' who was oblivious to the connotations too. ;) )

Does anyone have an alt, that is a diff sex from yourself or your main?

You will eventually find out that a large number of MAIN accounts are a different sex from themselves - many girls are G.I.R.L.s - Guys In Real Life.

To answer your question, no, both of my accounts are the same sex as myself.

If you say so. My seagull is on my roof. Today he gets two lamb chops, beef ribs and some slices of Vermont smoked ham. he's really cute. Looks at me sideways and sorta winks. Neat. You should look at seagulls more closely Pep. We take them for granted but they are very cute. I have learnt a lot from him. How do you tell if he is a boy or a girl?
